ORIGIN

Once again they shook their head, taking a deep breath. There was no use getting frustrated. Time wasn't of the essence or anything and Master Vargas wasn't looming over their shoulder, pushing them to do better, to be better.

Not here, anyway. Perhaps when they got back, but they were here in the moment and this moment could last however long they wanted.

This time it worked. They disappeared into shadow, blending in with the dimming light of Pegasus. This was what they wanted and they felt relief that they'd gotten it. Finally.

’Time to step it up,’ they thought, ’Let's see...’

Chaos-Two had cast a spell on Draconua. They called it Spotlight, due to what it had done. A trap set that would blind any who stepped on it. May as well attempt it. Their magic wasn't infinite but they felt pretty good so far.

Their magic came to their fingers but no further, suggesting they needed to rest. Perhaps that good feeling was success rather than a lack of tiredness. So rest they would, for just a moment.

Chaos-Two turned and picked up their spear again, twirling it behind their back before jabbing it forward. They'd increased in their prowess with the weapon, becoming rather good with it. They swung it over one shoulder and slashed it downward, lunging forward and using the weapon as a vaulting pole so they could kick at their invisible foe.

They knelt and swept the weapon around, aiming for legs to topple out from underneath before using the momentum to spin upward, spear held along one forearm with the other hand nearer to the tip. Using their hand as a guide they thrust it forward quickly before slashing it downward and back around.

With one last twirl they set the staff on the ground, panting gently. That was good.

With their spirits heightened again, they retried their spell, holding their staff in one hand and directing their gaze to a spot on the ground, focusing on it.

Another attempt and another failure, this one making their frustration rise a bit. Their eye twitched and they turned, staring at some of the glass with a frown on their face. What a mess they'd made.

Chaos-Two let out a gentle sigh and closed their eyes, focusing. Their ears fell as they set their forehead against the head of their spear, holding it close as they focused their energy inward. Perhaps their anger was affecting their spells. Perhaps they needed to be calm. Focused. adamantine.

They lunged forward as spores spread from their body, alighting upon every surface in the clearing. They slammed the end of their spear against a shard, shattering it and sending glass dust into the air, sparkling among the spores all around. Strangely, they felt it, too.

They threw their spear, then, sending it flying at another shard and shattering it too, the sensory information returning to them. This clearing, their clearing, was now relaying information to them. How wonderful.

Chaos-Two walked towards the tree and looked up, realizing their spear was stuck all the way up where they couldn't reach it easily. They put their hands on their hips and stared at it for a moment before glancing at the trees and trying to figure out how they could go about getting it.

Another spell? Climbing? They'd try a spell first.

When nothing came to being they just sighed and made their way to the tree, grabbing a hold of a branch and bouncing on one foot before hoisting themselves up. So no magic, fine, but they still needed their spear.

It took a few minutes to actually climb up to a spot they could get their spear from, having struggled to get footing with their hooves, but they'd made it up to a sort of stable branch.

Chaos-Two looked up at their spear and reached for it, claws just barely scratching against the base, a huff leaving their mouth. They managed to grab the end and pulled on it, struggling to yank it free when it refused to budge.

A crack met their ears and they looked down to see the branch they were on starting to break. Wonderful.

They didn't dare move, hanging onto their spear while they tried to think their way out of this situation. Maybe a spell? Or maybe if they moved fast enough they could just... grab their spear and go. That seemed like the better option.

Grabbing the spear with both hands, they pulled harder, trying to use their full weight to bring it down. On one last tug it came lose, only for the push back to finally break the branch and send them falling to the ground.

'Well, this could have gone better,' they thought dryly as they fell.

One last pull for magic before they landed and either bruised or broke something. Come on, magic!

A gust of wind pushed them to the side all of a sudden, the force sending them rolling across the grass and making them drop their spear. They came to a halt with their face right in front of a shard of glass, having nearly been impaled by it.

Even worse, however, was the familiar feeling of chaotic energy that had swept over them, the same type of aura Draconua wore. It made them shiver and they quickly pulled away, wincing. At least they weren't dead.

Chaos-Two rolled over onto their back and stared up at the sky, rubbing their face gently. Damn. That was a little scary.

They sat up and leaned over to grab their spear, making sure it wasn't cracked or broken before just laying down again. They needed a minute after that.
