ORIGIN - Bottom of the River

She had grown restless, in the two cycles since her mistake of venturing down to the Black City. It had been relatively peaceful, since then, but she couldn't help of thinking of The Kraken. How it'd nearly killed her- her, and the rest of her family. That couldn't happen again. She simply refused to let it happen.

Her magic was severely lacking. Time to practice the only way she knew how- causing absolute destruction.

Pisces was quiet, and frankly, boring, but it was a good place to practice magic where any backfires wouldn't bother anyone. It was all chilly ponds and mist and, in the distance, the great waterfall. All that water would be useful, later, but for now her focus was elsewhere.

Pushing her magic, her will, into the ground, she tried make it shake. Nothing destructive, but something to make the earth feel her presence. The ground was frustratingly, annoyingly still, causing irritation to flash and crackle like static along her spine.

This was where Haven hatched. Where she'd started her life with Electrum. She could even see her old nest, the small outcropping that was barely big enough for her now.

But that was only part of the reason why she'd come. No, she'd come because she and Telesto had been severely lacking in mother-daughter bonding.

"Telly?", she said softly, landing quietly behind her daughter and making her way forward, chirping softly to make sure she didn't just collide right with her, "What are you doing?"

Haven was very... cuddly, to say the least. It was natural, she was a dragon who latched onto mates and children hard in the loneliness of a life meant to be spent alone. So she came right up to Telesto and slid her head along her neck, purring softly as she shared her love and affection as best she could.

It should've been simple, easy. Just a minor shake, a rumble of stone beneath her feet. But. Nothing happened. Would her magic be like this in a real battle, a real threat? Taking a deep breath and letting her temper simmer down to placid waters once again, she's shove her magic into the earth.

And it worked. It was a feeble quake- a small rumble that quickly petered off after a few feet. But it was something, and something is always better than nothing, right?

Haven's voice made her jump in surprise, having been focused wholly on her magic. She should've expected being followed, really, especially after her stunt in Fornax. "Oh- uh, Hi mom." She greeted, turning to face the cave dragon. "I'm just practicing magic. There's plenty of water here and nobody really lives here, so it seems like the perfect spot." She'd shrug lightly. Briefly, she wondered what kind of magic Haven used. She knew it was far from the stormy spells she and Electrum used- something to do with blood, or poison. But she hadn't actually ever seen it in action.

Telesto couldn't purr like Haven, but she smiled and leaned into the embrace. Lights flared and glowed along her hide- bright flashes of silvery-white and gold that made her look even more like some Christmas decoration. After a bit, she'd begin to pull away."Do you wanna practice magic with me?" She'd offer. A fun activity for the whole family! And something to sate her curiosity, of course.

Haven's 'ears' perked up and she bumped her nose against Telesto's side, "Was that the rumbling I was feeling? That's really neat."

Her own bioluminescence flared, speckles of rainbow cascading down her back, reflecting her glee at Telesto's question.

"I would love to practice magic! Mine's not as flashy as your father's, but it does the job well enough," she said, and hummed softly, considering.

Haven focused for a moment and closed her wings, drawing them in. She flopped down on the rock beneath her and shuffled, her skin moving and changing. As she stilled she blended in with the rock, not a perfect disguise but good enough that someone might pass by without noticing her.

"Pretty cool, isn't it?", she said proudly, "Electrum saw me doing it and I didn't even notice I was. Made ambushing prey a lot easier after that."

The she-dragon stood after a moment and shook herself off, the colors dissipating and returning her to her usual blue-grey. With a trill she walked back over to Telesto and sat down next to her, so close the other could probably feel her body heat.
