One moment, he was defying her and the world she tried to impose on him, rejecting the demand to cower beneath this fate. The next-- and he did not know where or when it began-- he could not draw in a breath at all.

His limbs spasmed in response, and his jaw parted, gasping. He lost the air from his lungs, and now his body could only build up waste without a way to draw in fresh air. Now, he could not so much as hiss. His eyes closed tight, and he choked and gagged on it, twisting, and his tendrils whipped and struggled, lashing out blindly. His fur flashed gold and violet, violet and gold, a panic response beyond his control.

He continued to thrash, chaotically, enough to injure himself and anything else nearby. Though he lost consciousness well before his body fell still, it was as though his body had become a vessel for Him, in that moment. It was a shame, then, that he could not be properly aware of it. The creature's muscles could only struggle for so long, however, and soon there was nothing the valkhound's form could do but try to rebuild. His gemstone rapidly started to grow, to encase him, to recuperate from the sudden death instilled upon him.
