WINNER: Maximus & Bebby

@Maximus @Bebby @Pelt
Thankfully, the battle did not continue beyond that point. Pelt couldn't even open her mouth without unbearable pain, and only HRRNNNNGHed an angry groan as Maximus and Bebby swam away.

She should... she should get somewhere to rest. Pelt didn't know how she was supposed to recover from this, but lingering in the middle of the bay was certainly a terrible way to go about it, especially as she was still bleeding into the water. It'd either be drowning, or death by possible mysterious giant predator that got attracted by the large, blubbery seal currently unable to defend itself.

With a massive effort, she heaved herself into proper swimming posture and began to doggedly swim for land, at an angle that would keep her well away from the two Gembound she'd just fought. But it was hot, and her jaw still hurt so badly it made things feel even hotter, and Pelt's vision kept blurring away in bouts of dizziness and forcing her to close her eyes. It was overall... not a fun experience.

Somewhere before she made it to land, she finally gave up. Just close your eyes and sleep. Let the dizziness take over. Amber grew from her forehead, encasing her, and a twelve-foot long chrysalis began to sink in the water.

Maximus made it to shore and shook themself off, stumbling to one side once they were finished. They limped further up the beach and towards Bebby, ears pricked forward in concern.

”I'm...” they started, before looking down at themselves, at the blood running down their arm and leg. ”... I will be fine. Don't worry about me.”

They could put weight on their arm, which was a relief, but their back leg dragged behind them, so they'd have to stitch that up so it could heal properly. But for now they had Bebby to worry about, that leg looked pretty bad.

”Come here,” they said, sitting down and beckoning her towards them.

They reached out with their magic, an ear flicking in irritation when yet another spell failed. Now was not the time for faulty magic.

@Bebby

Bebby limped forward herself, tears threatening to spill down her face. her wings hung limply to her sides, one of which bearing a nasty tear. it was small, but it was there. her leg looked far worse for wear, the fur around it stained a rainbow of colors and hanging awkwardly, but the sugar blood itself having cooled to an almost caramel like consistency.

"i'm gonna worry anyway!" she said indignantly, "i-it's my fault we got hurt!" she said, voice shaky.

she got quiet, moving forward to nuzzle into the leg of max's that wasn't injured, sniffling. "i-i'm sorry.." she said, sniffling, and in an instant the waterworks broke out.

it wasn't often you'd see bebby cry, infact it was almost unnerving to see it at all, but more rainbow liquid spilled from her eyes as she sobbed, wracked with guilt. she really didn't mean for them to get hurt, she didn't! she just wanted to play!! and that stupid sea-lion had to ruin it!

Maximus didn't know what to do. No one had ever cried because they'd been hurt before. No one had been this worried for them ever.

”Bebby, don't cry,” they pleaded, reaching out to draw her into a hug. ”It's okay, I promise. I will heal.”

They brushed a hand over Bebby's fur, feeling out her broken leg. Then they pushed their magic into the wound, healing it as best they could. They'd deal with their own leg and arm later, but they weren't broken bones and would scab over soon enough anyway.

”Better?” they asked.
