It had been just a few days early the chrysalis had started to break, a conscious mind developed quickly and felt rather trapped. Hooves beat the walls aggressively and a strong head nudged at it as well. Before she knew it she felt herself slip and roll a couple of paces away from her cramped home. She sneezed and immediately started to stand up on sore legs, she fell and then tried again until she could properly balance. Her body shifted back and forth and shook, attempting to balance more in order to start walking. It wasn’t long before the filly got the hang of it and started walking in faster paces around the area.

A mares auburn eyes battered around and blinked often, her body and focus turning here and there with her head held high and eyes widened. She nickered and sometimes squealed out to get a response from someone, blonde tail flagging and bouncing up and down to make herself visible. She lowered her head to make her nostrils flare at the ground for a scent, but the ground made dirt shoot up her nose which made the young mare panic as if she was in water she couldn’t swim in. She flailed her head and started bolting around, bumping her rear in attempts to buck. However, she was too weak to get the signature buck of her species.

She was confused as of why she didn’t see any older versions of herself around and with being new she was oblivious to the dangers she could encounter, squealing loudly to make herself known to this new world. She whinnied, making herself loud and echoed to get anyones attention, her body tensed up from panic and confusion. She couldn’t quite speak yet, but it was obvious she would soon learn quickly how to as fire seemed to burn through her lively spirit.

The loud squeal wasn't anything Anthem recognized. He'd never met anyone, either, and was just a child himself--albeit a very different sort than the whinnying foal. So far his life had consisted of him floating around, singing and glowing, happily oblivious to the concept of other sentient life.

But this sound intrigued him, and--slowly--he drifted his way over toward it. He was quite a few feet off the ground when he spotted Catori down below, and he huffed out a great puff of hot air to descend (also slowly) down to her level, his resonant humming audible.

She looked... gangly, a long-legged thing and from the clatter of hooves he'd heard, one that could move pretty fast? He wasn't really sure what to make of her just yet.

Words were still foreign to him, and he offered them in his musical tone but with slightly confused hopefulness. "Hello? What..." (and here he puffed out a little more air, settling lower down to peer at her) "...are you?"

@Catori
Catori tried to put a quick brake to her legs as she saw the other creature.. a much bigger and scarier creature than her but her new legs failed to balance the halt and she tripped and slid on her side even closer to the other. She let out a small noise in protest to the pain she felt on her skin as she slid. However, the filly got up shakily and did another rear bump in his direction- bolting in the oposite direction only to slam into a wall causing her to fall again. She let out an angry snort, standing up again and shaking herself off.

She rose her head to stare at the creature, ears perking as he talked and made other noise. She opened her mouth for a second, wanting to repeat the weird jumbled sounds of communication. She then closed her mouth quickly, deciding it was too hard to mimic. Her brain was already processing the new word, speaking was a bit too much for the youngster to process for now. So she just stared at him with wide eyes, she had never thought there would be other creatures besides her kind. And this creature was weirdly shaped and had many eyes. But it did stir in her conscious that maybe she was related to this being, she didn't see how but it was the first living and breathing creature she saw. Her instincts did however mark him as danger. She let out a hesitant nicker, seeing if the other could copy her sound. It certainly would give away if this being was related or not.

He waited, placid, but was disappointed: the creature did not talk back. Instead it careened away, falling and stumbling, and for a moment Anthem wondered if something were wrong with it. If, perhaps, it were sick.

But--despite its unique appearance--it didn't seem to be any more intelligent than the little cave deer that scrambled about the caves. He let out a low, sad groan, a deep sigh of a sound infused with accidental music.

He had, in his wanderings, become rather lonely; the prospect of a friend, or even simply another sentient being, had brought with it a spark of hope that he now found dashed. It did not occur to him to mimic the other's voice, but... he had nowhere to be. Lonely as he was, he could linger awhile; even if this were a mindless deer, maybe it could give a little company.

It did seem strange, though--they ate plants, did they not? He didn't see many here. Maybe it wasn't a deer, after all. "...Mmm... do you eat... rocks?" he asked, at last, hazarding a guess. He was half-talking to himself, now, not really expecting a reply.

And Anthem turned, a slow and rolling banking to send him drifting a few feet away, scrutinizing the area around them both. "Do you eat... bugs?" was his second musing guess.

He didn't see much else out here; and idly he rolled in place, flipping into his back and then his belly, where he hung otherwise motionless in the air.

@Catori
She cocked her head to the side as the creature made the sad musical sound. She attempted to mimic with whinnys and quickly getting frustrated she couldn't produce it. The foal expressed her anger with dragon like snorts and pawing at the ground.

She curiously started to approach the stranger after she expressed her frustrations, listening to him talk to her. She started to gain understanding of his questions, shaking her head no as he brought up what she ate. Her stomach started to rumble at the thought and she flared her nostrils at the noise and cramping feeling. What was that? What attacked her? She wearily looked around, seeing what caused her to feel this way. She then focused back on the dark creature whom was now floating on its back, snorting and standing on her back legs and flailing her front legs in challenge until she had to drop back down for balance. Would she really fight him? No. But she wanted to seem big and scary even though the other being was more than her. She wanted to get some kind of reaction, watching him intently.

Testing everything was the first on the palamino coated filly's list.. even walls. Of course, she was taught what walls were quite quickly and in a firm way. She also was taught she wasn't indestructible and at the moment she was rather frail in this new body. Reactions were something else she had in mind to experiment with, maybe she would see a new emotion or different type of attention. Or maybe nothing. She wanted answers for her curious and confused mind.

Anthem did not quite know what to make of all of the rearing, the snorting, the pawing at the air. He was a little taken aback by that last, and drifted just a little higher, wondering what the gesture meant.

Yet--the shake of the foal's head... had that meant something? It wasn't a gesture Anthem could replicate, not with his body shape, and he'd never seen anyone else do that--he'd never seen anyone else at all. But it seemed somehow deliberate, or even unnatural.

Equally curious, and just as interested--quite accidentally--in testing the other, he reached for his magic. It came in a slow wash, forming into a skin-crawling vibration that rattled through the air in a low hum. It resonated, flowing around him, and he watched Catori to see how she'd react.

He didn't think to speak again, just yet; so far as he knew the foal wasn't sapient, but he did wonder what she'd make of the magic.

@Catori
Catori watched Anthem intently, lowering her head and sniffing the ground curiously. She then felt the vibration which she connected a similar feel in her stomach but this felt like it was outside. It was almost an aura and she backed up and went forward, feeling where it was coming from. But it wasn't hurting her so she didn't do anything to try and intimidate him.

Something stirred in her conscious that she had some kind of ability as well, it took her a couple of seconds to process, staring blankly at the creature for awhile. She attempted to reach for her magic as well, something that made her eyes fiery and her body hot to the touch. She was cold anyway so she felt like this was worth showing anyway since she needed warmth.

She blew from her nostrils to feel any smoke coming out of them but her attempt had failed. But she started to feel spunky, figuring out she at least had an ability. She ran around the area and bumping her rear to show that she was feeling good. She then reared up at the whale again but in a more playful manner than challenging, whinnying loud to him and bobbing her head.

@anthem

It was another on the long list of things that was new to the floating whale. This time, the creature he faced was playful.

For a moment, he pondered what to do about that. Some part of him, though, was still a child; and that part responded with instinct instead of thought.

He could not frolic as she did, not really; he was slow, and quick turns and jumps were beyond him. But he did begin to fly slow circles along behind her, another long, musical trumpet of sound coming from him, along with a brief blast of hot air from atop his head. He would never catch her, nor was he really trying; it was just a mindless celebration of life--of being here, of being alive.

This seemed... fun; and instead of words, he simply followed around, slowly rolling in the air again, playing for the very first time.

When no response eventually came, he seemed to assume he was frightening the child. Disappointed, his song growing pleasantly reassuring, he drifted off away again.
