On the ground as it was, breathing heavily as its mind went dim, it could still sense the Praetor looming over it, probably making to finish the job before it could retreat to its chrysalis.

But the Warden wasn't going to have that, it wasn't going down without one last blow. Without Lightning in its hand, it couldn't stab forward, but its feet were in prime position to deliver a strong kick.

With the last of its strength, it pulled its heavy foot back and slammed forward with all its might to crush the Praetor's midsection, either throwing it back or obliterating the chitin exterior all together. Either way, it gave it enough room to safely go to sleep.

Grinning widely, with its teeth stained black from its own blood, it gave one last hoarse chuckle and spat out, "Fuck you," before the stone on its chest began to streak out over its body, covering it in a cradle of Oilstone as the last bit of light winked away and the Warden went silent, another chrysalis on the battlefield.

Exit to chrysalis
Orthus groaned, rising back up from his unimpressive tumble. But even when he was back up, he was unsure of what to do. He stood, muscles locked by indecision. All of his siblings needed help. Juggernaut was under assault, and taking on Vargas alone. Alcina was gone. And Bone was gone as well. As he stood, unable to decide, one of those maddening dragons swept by above, trying to spray him with something. Orthus ducked low in an attempt to avoid the spray. His claws came out to shield his face, and the sickening spray, whatever it was, landed mostly on his claws. Orthus growled, a deep rumble.
Around him, the world had gone dark. Orthus could not see. But he knew, instinctively, that the battle still raged. Orthus could not find Vargas to help Juggernaut in the dark. But maybe Orthus could put himself into the line of fire. Distract the forces of chaos while Juggernaut went after the head. Surely if Orthus went after the brightest thing here, that would draw their attention. Orthus crouched, jaws held shut. Then, he broke into a sprint.

"I will DESTROY you!" Orthus bellowed, a returning threat for the glowing bug creature. Orthus' jaws opened, preparing to crush his bear-trap jaws onto ruby-beta. In his thoughts, though, none of this was at the forefront. Orthus did not want to be here. He longed for the comforting and clean cold of Ursa. A single thought circulated in his brain. A desperate, scared thought for his siblings. Don't leave me, too.

@V-Zoisite-One

The rest of the battlefield was gone, dimmed by the shadow and the distance from the incoming onslaught. Draconua's massive form surged toward the Zoisite, and it snarled, pincers snapping. The pit opened up before it, and its talons scrambled through the lurching sand, golden eyes searching the shadows for enemies.

The Praectors were converging on it now, some perhaps to fall victim to the yawning void created by its ally, and it made to back away, baiting them to come blindly forward into the hole. A roar from behind the worm, and its tail flicked, jaws opening and false eyes gleaming with threat as it shuffled along the battlefield.

Let their foes come.

Orthus came crashing forward, clumsy and blind in his charge, and at the last moment, the Zoisite lurched to the side, narrowly dodging the crushing jaws completely, while still avoiding the pit and Draconua as well.

Its own jaws, like guillotines, pried open wide.

"Worm," came the hiss, rolling off its golden tongue.

Less than a second had passed. Near instantaneous. Orthus surged past where it had just been standing, and now its jaws were open wide, ready to retaliate.

The white titan was much too big for its jaws to neatly lop off his head like it would have done with any other insect. This was not a lesser, but a Greater, and so the act was not one done unthinkingly. It could not strike like lightning and have it be over.

There would be a struggle, the Zoisite acknowledged somewhere deep in the back of its thoughts. Though faint, pity was the only emotion it felt.

In the moment, it didn't matter. V-Zoisite-One was a tool and a weapon, and it put all of its strength into thrusting its rear pincers into the thick, meaty neck of Orthus, aiming to reach a spinal cord and sever it with all the strength it had.

@Orthus (s-sorry)

ORDER VS CHAOS
THE SIEGE

Calculations were swiftly made. Mother was no fool: Gemini was theirs; Eridanus was theirs; Canis was theirs. But the dragons had been an unexpected complication--and Mother knew now that she should have used Bone to sway them to her side in advance.

No matter.

She had all the time in the world; this failing nest would still fall. Order had made incredible gains here in the space of a day or two. She would pull them back; and then, push them to reinforce what they had gained, and hold it. That was more important, now. There was no point in risking her carefully curated army even further. They had done well: she sent a surge of satisfaction through them, and a grim promise for revenge.

"Depart this place. Return to Ursa. Return to the tunnels, for now, and regroup," she commanded them, her voice a thrumming power like thunder in their hearts and minds. Her Praetors were already surging forward to cover the escape: a sacrifice, but a necessary one. And should any of these Hounds be fool enough to follow... the Soldiers lay in wait.

Chaos has successfully defended Leo, breaking Order's march through Origin Cave. While Order has exerted influence over other caves, Leo will remain untouched.

1. Order characters may exit, and are being instructed/forced by Mother to do so.
2. To prevent the thread from stretching on through multiple attempts and confusion OOCly, attacks on Order characters by Chaos characters may no longer occur. Instead, these will be intercepted by Praetors, which Chaos-aligned characters can roll to one-shot kill.
3. However, any attacks already made--and not defended against--must still be rolled against. Characters who are struck may still choose to exit after taking damage, or may enter their chrysalis if preferred, or even die.

If any Chaos-aligned characters wish to pursue the Hive to Ursa, however, they may create a thread and GM tag for that.

Important Note: The following characters are considered chrysalized due to inactivity, and may no longer post in this thread: Scorn, Pickles, Siren, V-Labradorite-One, V-Hiddenite-One. (An exit may be written if desired but may not be included in the thread length claim.)

All Order/Chaos players should also remember to claim Extra Magicka according to Order/Chaos event magicka claim rules!

This concludes the Order vs Chaos site event! Order has emerged victorious overall, despite being forced to retreat from Leo. More information, IC follow-ups and achievements for all participants will be given out in the next week--along with new Order lore and Order-side rewards.

Perhaps Rue's forged spell wasn't particularly a bad thing - Praetors turned towards them, rather than charging further into the chaos behind them. Unaware of the Hive's order to retreat, how these soldiers are being offered as lambs for the slaughter in place of more precious drones, Rue is all the ready to tear into their insectoid hides.

"HERE I AM!" they howl, torchflame dancing in their eyes and mouth, as they will more fire from their magic. These flames, however are black, invisible in the darkness, as they lick at the pale chitin of the approaching Praetors.

The lights going off was a problem for the dragon, suddenly suspended in a black void. She stopped her dive to hover, beating her wings to keep her aloft as her head swung around, trying to find the source of that stupid cat. She would rip it to pieces! She would freeze its very essence and shatter it into dust! Hatred born of pain, fury born from love, drove her movements and her determination.

Yet it would have been for nothing, if the cat hadn't called out.

As soon as she heard, she turned towards that location and didn't hesitate. She opened her jaws to release a torrent of freezing cold exactly where the voice had been. Except...it wasn't there anymore. The cat had flown higher and Asimona was only attacking empty space.

@Cain
Orthus had been aware, somewhere deep down, that this was a trap. He simply didn't expect the trap to be so thorough. Orthus felt the pincers dig into his neck, the sharp pain of it. A clear fluid began to bleed from it. Orthus belatedly yanked his neck away from the source of the injury, in an attempt to minimize the damage. He pulled away just in time. It cut deep enough to labor his breath. It cut deep enough that he felt his right side go limp. At first Orthus thought he had collapsed. But he was still able to move. It was almost as if his side were no longer there. But why did it still drag? Why was the weight still there?

None of that mattered, though. Orthus, Orthus was still alive. Orthus wheezed heavily. In pain. Battered. Heavily injured. But still moving. Unable to see, unable to move properly, Orthus dragged his limp, heavy body towards where he remembered entering. Mother's righteous satisfaction overpowered by the raw fear of an injured beast.

- THE LEVIATHAN -

Vargas narrowed his eyes. There was no way "Order" could stand against the combined might of Chaos in these caves--none at all. Draconua or himself alone would be too much for most of them, and together--with the rest of their beasts?

He allowed himself the briefest moment of pride in his work; for without he and Totum, without the mass of spawn he'd raised and trained, the cave might very well have fallen. Even now some were falling, others fleeing--though Warden had also entered its stone, and he made a note to keep watch of him.

He looked around at the fight breaking apart in the dim returning light, and bellowed. "FINISH THOSE WHO REMAIN. We will hunt the rest as they DARE show their faces!" Perhaps he'd organize patrols, when this was over. Send groups of Valkhounds to snare and kill any 'drone' foolish enough to be seen.

And then, booming praise, ringing across Leo's bay: "WELL DONE! WELL FOUGHT! This pathetic incursion means nothing!"

Now it was time to herd them up, lead them back... and plan. He'd need to send out runners, scouts, to see how bad the damage was--but not alone. It was very possible Leo wasn't the only cave under attack; he'd need to plan...

He turned, lunging for the Praetor foolish enough to come for him. Exoskeleton shattered and crushed, as the Warden's had--and he raised a long forearm to shield himself from the glassy webbing that exploded from its carapace. "COME, CHAOS FORGE. Draw together! We must plan, from here!"

exit Vargas? Probably. and... sentinel, nidhogg will follow
