Bebby could hardly wait. she got her new magic AND a cool magic item. all she had to do was test them out!! she'd start with arguably the coolest one, the amulet.
she didn't exactly know how to make it work, she forgot to ask and frankly she hadnt thought that far ahead, but he said it gave light physical form, right??? she could kinda do that, make images with light, maybe its like. that but more??
worth a shot, atleast.
she sat in the middle of the meadow, so incase anything went wrong she didnt set anything on fire, he did say something about burning, and got herself ready.
with intense focus, and one paw on the pendant, she would attempt to will that familiar spell forward
nothing happened, her magic fizzling out. she huffed. cmon, wasn';t she supposed to be better at this?
She sighed. of course it still isn't all that easy, huh?? either way, thats why shes out here.
she would try again. she NEEDED this to work.
paw to pendant, focusing. what did she wanna conjure anyway??? maybe like. a rock??? or a sword, to see if she could do it.
yeah, sword. nice.
she felt her magic surge forward, strong and bright, and she peaked an eye open as she grinned to see what happened.
They grew glassy. Translucent. Several of them simply... faded away, turned to dust that vanished in the wind. So, too, would the sword, after a moment: dust that sifted away into nothing.
If she did notice this change to the meadow close beside her, she might recognize what the rings had done: taken matter from the area around them to form the blade of light. That included Bebby herself.
Future use of the Rings of Dust will gradually weaken Bebby. Each successful use of Aether Dance (Barely+ Rolls) cast through the rings will make her feel weaker, lighter-weight, and less substantial. The fifth use will be notable, and should be GM-tagged for.
@Bebby
Bebby would ALMOST not notice it.
keyword almost.
she felt... different. she couldn't tell if she was tired or if she was suddenly ill, but she felt... weak. weaker, atleast, nothing drastic quite yet, but it frightened her, ears falling back.
she looked around her, at the grass left transluscent, and noted with mild horror as some of it simply blew away into dust. she felt different, tired, and a bit lighter. she swayed a little bit, but atleast she wasn't turning into dust???
it did something to her too, but what??
she touched the pendant with a paw, feeling the magic thrum through it. it wasnt like any magic she'd used before, despite it working in combination with her own, and the thing she had conjured withered almost immediately, barely any time to do anything, atleast by the time she got over the following dizziness to move.
she was too dizzy to fully think it through. maybe she shouldve eaten something before coming here...
she decided to go home. her excitement had ebbed and been replaced with a sense of unease and nausea. she noted, with slight concern, it was a little harder to get herself to move.
