Rough tongue licked the kitten dry, and he settled contentedly into Wilder's soft fur. The glimmer of golden starlight and feathers shrouded them from the world, and it was as though they were all in a secret pillow fort made just by their own creator.
You-me, claimed the first, snake-child that brushed his side. The second-- purring loud enough for all three children-- claimed a different sound entirely: Ceeg-nuhs... Both were perfectly good names, but the little hairless kitten didn't know the first thing about names.
It seemed only proper that if the two others had names, that he too should have a name.
There was a limited amount of words that he knew, and so he stuck with his first instinct: "M'beans. Beans. Beans!" And there it was. A beautiful name for a little kitten. It wouldn't be so graceful in a few cycles, like a human growing up into an old man but still going by "Timmy"-- but those were worries that simply couldn't begin to touch the hatchling.
