"Whisper... want learn magic?" Erasmus inquired once they had exited the Palace's territory into the main area of Cepheus. They had gained knowledge of a new way to use their magic, and though their senses were already keen, it was interesting. They had a feeling that Whisper might've learned the spell as well.

"Erasmus and Whisper... share same magic. Child has magic of parent that gave life," Erasmus began, thoughtful. "Magic has... elements. Ours... is... mental and minds," Erasmus shared, or at least that was their belief regarding their magic, mostly. "Can move with mind, like the bats," the vampire reminded their child of them moving the bats with telekinesis.

"Magic requires... focus," they continued. "But magic... is strange, hard to know. And that is okay. Cannot learn all, only some. To learn all... is to be fool. Always more," Erasmus added, lips quirking up into a faint smile at the playful addition. But they tried to keep their teeth hidden.

They were very self-conscious of their teeth and mouth, knowing their unnerving qualities. They did not even think of how they hid themself, necessarily.

For a moment, they brushed their hair away from their face, revealing their green viper-esque gaze. Suddenly, the green gaze shifted to red, and they felt it. They smiled still.

"This is an odd magic... not like rest," they stated, referring to their eyes.

"Yes! Want learn!" They had felt it after the task of clearing bats had concluded, the feeling of newly gained knowledge of some magic.

"Hap-py to share magic." Though the distinction of gaining the magic of the parent who gave life is mostly lost, considering they don't understand all that quite yet, they do absorb that their magic is mind related. Whisper didn't know many gembounds, but for sure their parent was the coolest of them all. And they got to share magic types! That was so cool!

They nod, thinking that was good advice. If magic really required that much focus and effort, perhaps it was best to stick with being really really good at a few. "Can use magic for food?" After the feast in the palace, Whisper found themselves longing for more ways to gain food. Even though they were very full.

"RED!" The unexpected change nearly startles Whisper off their shoulder, but they manage to hang on. "How do that magic? I want red!" And they focus very hard, just like Erasmus said they should. But rather than any shift in eye color occurring, they found they were instead able to see everything in a different way. They couldn't describe it. "Have mind magic but just used... sound? Sound magic? Saw everything!"

@Erasmus
Their child's enthusiasm was a delight, Erasmus thought. A part of them wondered what sort of magic their child stone's life prior had once had, but they mentally shook off that thought.

Erasmus's demeanor, already soft and warm regarding this child, softened further at Whisper's happiness to share magic. "Erasmus happy too," they sincerely told their child, for all the pain in their past, they were truly happy.

At the question regarding food, Erasmus tilted their head, thoughtful. "Some magic help prepare food... Alek's dad Sprig cooks with Alek's parent Cadenza's help. Seen it. Different magic than ours, but..." It would lead well into their next point.

No doubt they had mentioned Alek before, since they were getting closer to Draco and Erasmus intended to visit. Too, Erasmus would have wished to tell Whisper of their siblings, Doru and Bez who had hatched prior. Family was important, Alek had taught them.

Erasmus gave a raspy chuckle at their child's delight. "That magic... not mind. Sound magic not mind, too," they informed Whisper in agreement. "Other magics can be learned... Sometimes harder to learn than own magic, but.... Still learned," Erasmus stated.

To demonstrate their shared magic, Erasmus tried a simpler spell, attempting to move a pebble a light. It began to move a little, and Erasmus pointed it out. "Watch," they told Whisper.

It did a couple inch hop in the air, then fell again, all without touching it.

@Whisper
They beamed at Erasmus' statement of happiness as well. For someone as young as they were, it seemed happiness was easy to achieve, and unburdened mind free of problems and countless other things to worry about.

"Can visit Sprig? Want food! And magic." And, they wondered, if they got good enough at cooking and all, if there was a way for them to come up with something other than blood that their parent would be able to digest. Or could one flavor blood?

"Mmmm..." They wondered how many other kinds of magic there were. It was certainly interesting, and something which could be used in many different ways. Whisper clambered down Erasmus' arm and jumped onto the ground.

The dragon watched the pebble move without any physical contact. So it must've been moved with the mind! "I try!" They focused very intently on the same pebble, so hard it made their little head hurt a bit, but nothing happened. "Aw... magic hard. I focus! Nothing!"

@Erasmus
"Of course, can visit," Erasmus stated, warmly, then considered. "Want visit while Erasmus visits Alek?" they asked, curious. So that their child would not be bored, and Whisper would have a great opportunity for growth. Alek's parents were very good gembounds. Erasmus trusted them with Whisper.

They fondly watched the way Whisper intently focused upon the pebble they had moved with their own magic. "When began, Erasmus barely any magic," Erasmus started. "Now much. But Whisper beginning. Try reaching for magic general, not specific," they gave a suggestion.

They kneeled down near their child. They didn't yet cast another spell, not wanting to discourage their child from trying more.

"Try?" they asked, voice warm if raspy as ever.
