"....And then the tired bear tells the bird, 'It was never really about the fields, I just wanted a place for my friend to rest, you know? I didn't know fish needed water to breathe, I just wanted to protect them.' The bird frowned and replied, 'Then you shouldn't have took your friend away from their home. As odd as it is to have a fish for friend, what did you expect?'

The dog had finished the little grave for the fish in the flower fields. It felt regret for trying to eat the fish, which had gotten itself into this big mess in the first place. After the fiasco with the fight with the bear, the bird's silly attempt at a fair trial as to who was right and who was in the wrong, and the fit of mild insanity from the bear at trying to protect the poor fish, who, through out the whole series of shenanigans, actually had a great sense of humor. Poor thing.

'So many tried to eat my friend,' the bear said in a quiet voice. 'Over and over again, I had to keep anyone from coming near them, scaring everyone off, till I was the only friend they had. And they were mine, as well. My only friend.'"

She paused here, as she and Ambrus had finally entered Cetus. The cold fog of the room snaked around her ankles, and she moved carefully, sure to avoid the treacherous and lying ground that easily gave way to deep murky water. Her voice carried now with the eerie effect that only Cetus had, and she had a few dancing lights around to scare away the fog, one that looked like a miniature running bear, a dog, a swimming fish, and a flying bird, just for Ambrus.

"'But now you have two new friends, don't you?' The dog said. 'The fish was always saying how you needed to get out more. I'm sure that's what they wanted in the end.'"

She heard a rustling in the near by bushes, and wondered if Pounce was awake. She'd better wrap up her story for Ambrus, just in case.

"'Perhaps,' the bear said, giving a weak smile. 'If you two are indeed my friends, you make very good ones.'

And the three remained friends through thick and thin ever since, through separation, desperation, and conflict. They were there for each other till the end of their days."

A mighty yawn from the young jaguar, awaking to find himself alone and without her. They always find each other while one or even both wander off without originally meaning to. Standing upon all four paws he stretched out. Tail flicking from side to side as he sat alone. Eye shut, ears twitching to the subtle sounds of Cetus that surrounded him.

Till finally he could hear her. His tall ethereal friend, she was telling a story! Walking closer even! A smile on his face he shimmied into the nearby bushes. Peering out barely from under the foliage's cover. He could see the fog drift away as small light friends bounced around. And there she was, walking out from the fog. He would surprise her! Yes he would!

With a wiggle of his rump he bolted out from his cover, tripping up and over a hidden root that caught his paw. Tail thrashing he was hogtied in his attempt. Legs fumbling as he rolled head over paws and into her legs! Face buried in the mud he pulled himself up and sat down. Squinted through the damp earth that desperately clung to his fur.

"S-Sorry! I-I missed you!!" he beamed, as much as he could in his current and muddied state.

our journey wasn't something i'd dreaded, for as we continued on, dear noname allowed for her story to blossom into something i could enjoy. i listened intently, little peeps and chirps erupted every so often but as she seemed to finish up the story, i frowned. my head cocked to the side as then, something presented itself and i hunkered down on her back, watching the creature intently. they exclaimed their gratitude for her return, announcing he'd missed her. so i assumed this was pounce, but i couldn't be too sure. i kept silent for now, watching this pounce with a prudent eye. he seemed harmless enough, but the three of us were different critters. pounce was a predator, i could discern this with the length of his canines and the way his body was formed. lovely noname was prey of some sort, so i wondered, why didn't pounce try to harm her? probably because she was too sweet, too light to be consumed by the dark. her light will always outshine the shadow - that i could be certain of.

so when pounce finished what he'd have to say, i couldn't help but feel a little envious and irritated. however, these emotions didn't show outright. he'd ruined my story. he'd taken the attention of noname. the frown still persisted however i did not speak on my unfortunate attitude for i felt a small pang that it was rather foolish to feel this way. finally, i decided i'd chime in.

"pounce?"

baby chirps asked, as i looked from the pounce back to noname, looking for reassurance.

"spoken words."

Both her ears swiveled around when she heard something coming out of the bushes, and her breath caught in her lungs just briefly - but it was only Pounce who came out to enthusiastically say hello! Perhaps too enthusiastically, for its paws became hopelessly tangled and the poor child fell head over heels straight towards her. She scrambled her front legs out of the way to protect Ambrus upon her back, and little Pounce ended up right between those legs. She tried to control her upset feelings that her Pounce might've gotten hurt.

Little Pounce apologized, its bright silver eyes gleaming under all that mud, and she replied, worried and harried,
"I missed you too, my love. Are you quite alright?" She looked it over, licking here and there a few tufts that stuck up here and there. "You really must be more careful; promise me you'll be more careful?"

She turned a little when Ambrus spoke up, and she could hear a tremor of emotion in its voice. Was it upset that Pounce got hurt? She turned her long neck so that she could nestle her cheek against its soft feathers, doing her best to comfort the bird. "Yes, my dear, this is Pounce, who woke up not too long ago here in Cetus. Do you want to say hello? Pounce very much loves to play." She smiled sweetly between the two. "I was hoping you two might wish to spend some time with me, for Ambrus has suggested a wonderful adventure."

When she glanced at Pounce, her good eye twinkled mischievously. "And, perhaps, one of us could have a bath on this adventure, hmm?"

"This is how I speak."

"I am fine! I am happy you are back!" He was focused entirely on his tall ethereal friend. That was until small chirps stole his attention, questioning who he was. Pounce, the name his tall friend had assigned him. Till he found his name one day, for it was hiding still. Eyes wide he smiled shutting them hard, teeth showing. He was an excited little cub. Butt wiggling as he stood in place. Greeting his new feathery friend!

"HELLO FRIEND! What is you name! Have you found it yet! Mine is still hiding!!" He was beyond happy to have not just his tall guardian but a new small friend! One who was around his age maybe? He rode on her back for he was fairly small, but didnt that hurt?

He side stepped to get a better look at the new arrival. He had claws? Maybe it was because they so different than himself. Two feet instead of four? Just like Eve the crow he had met! That must be it! So he was a b-bird. Yeah a bird!

'I was hoping you two might wish to spend some time with me, for Ambrus has suggested a wonderful adventure.'

Ambrus, that must be their name! Am-BRUS. It sounds so nice he mused. "AM-BRUS!! Ambrus! I would like to play yes! AND A BATH! Baths are fun?" It was more than decided, a fun adventure AND a bath! Oh what a good life he had!

pounce sure was lively! before i could offer up my name to the predator, sweet noname gave it for me. pounce repeated it, and again, another creature who couldn't find their name. i wondered why it was so easy for mine to come, and not for theirs? it was almost sad, almost disheartening. even more so for the nonamed creature which helped me so. for she was pure light, and i wondered why she could not be blessed with a name. or maybe, i'm to help them both. that must be it. they both needed my help with their names, and i'd definitely do all i could. i let silence cloak me as azurite lenses observed the area around. cetus, she called it. it was dark, muggy. instinctively, i wanted to take flight toward the tree tops to get a better view. but alas, my little wings were useless. would they ever aid me in flight? oh surely. surely these things weren't attached to me for no reason at all.

after a moment of surveying my surroundings, my attention came back toward the two, my emotions dissipating as the warm touch of noname caressed my baby feathers. a bath? what on earth was a bath? my head cocked to the side as i looked at noname.

"what's a bath?"

i asked, then looked to pounce. i wanted to flutter down, inspect this creature for myself. but i rather liked the height, perched upon the large creature looking down at pounce. i liked this distance, the view. it gave me more security. i remained nestled onto the back of the creature which i was so dearly dependent upon, and forced a small grin to my beak so that i could better embrace pounce.

(( I have no idea which direction to take this thread, help ;A; They'll go to Pisces after this one and find their names there.))

"A bath is really nice, where all the nasty mud and crusties one has gathered all comes off and one is all nice and clean again afterward." She said, intentionally sugarcoating it. She wanted it to be a good experience when they got there, remembering Aza's pure reluctance and eventual escape from its bath. "Mm, well, let's be on our way then, hmm? I suppose the Pisces room would be a good place to start, since it has nice, clear water."

She turned around, heading in a different direction than they had come, vaguely deciding the direction they needed to go. She rather liked Pisces, despite it being a little cooler than her favorite green rooms. Its hills and waterfall pool were sights to behold.

"In the meantime, we can play a game! I have a few in mind, but do you two have anything you'd like to play?"

"This is how I speak."

He smiled and bounced around his tall ethereal friend. "Bath! Bath! " The little one did not know of the world much outside the fog. Nor could one say he will remember this as he aged. But to travel out of this room and to another one? That was a concept that didn't quite make sense to him.

Perhaps it was like the before time, when he was floating through his warm world. Only to be pushed and suffocated with blinding bright light. It was not a fun experience and he could still recall that unnerving feeling. But he was excited! This new world was blissful! Especially with his tall ethereal friend! He would follow her forever, he mused.

After all they were friends right? Family? Few options bounced around his brain till he finally realized she was walking off into the fog. Bounding after her, sloshing around in the mud as he was already filthy he saw no harm in doing so.

She spoke of a game! Oh he wanted to play a game! "Tag! Tag! " He ran ahead and fumbled into the moist earth. Standing back up and laughing. Nodding his head with his previous statement. Though he was up and excited for any game she had in mind.

another adventure, this much i could enjoy. off to pisces, the noname said. little, flightless wings fluttered against creamed feathers as i chittered and chattered, stark yellow beak clacking softly against the top as azurite lenses observed the pounce and all his antics. i couldn't help but form a small smile, but remained atop the noname for dismounting the creature would be my own demise. i'd only slow us all down, so it was in everyone's best interest to just stay nestled away on her back, still mindful to not allow my talons to dig into her. harming her would be the worst feeling, and she didn't deserve such inconsiderate actions. especially not after the creature of light was so kind and generous toward me.
"what is tag?"
i wondered out loud, hoping the pair of older gembounds wouldn't get angry with my lack of knowledge. i highly doubted it, but being the obnoxious bird at the party was not something i wanted to be.

[short and shitty, love me anyway DX]

In answer to the Ambrus' hesitant question, she grinned, looking straight at Pounce ahead of her. "This is tag, my dear. Hold on!"

With that, she picked up her pace, bounding from one piece of solid ground to the other with ease, keeping her back steady intentionally. She danced lightly on her feet, catching up to Pounce and leaning down to touch the cub lightly with her nose. "Tag, you're it!"

She skipped away, laughing, dispatching with delicate speed. The little running creatures of light of hers followed and swirled with her like faeries in the mist.
