"Over/Seen!"

A new show is now showing in the Palace Cinema! A new episode airs each Tuesday and will play repeatedly throughout the week. Each episode begins with a loud and cheerful theme song, and short clips of a number of characters with their names shown beneath. A silly set of lyrics sings along about how this group is OVERSEEN, OVERSEEN, BUT EACH WONDERS, ARE THEY SEEN? and so on. It seems to be very loosely based upon Origin Cave's structuring, with an overarching story about development of an underground nest of Chaos, and the appropriate propaganda; but individual episodes focus on the relationships and mishaps of the show's characters.

The characters will be gradually introduced, but are named in the title credits as follows: Master Solerus, Master Moethan, Master Salicara, Overseer Bathwin, Overseer Nothilus, Fillian, Kragrak, Helly, Lorilus, and Vostilor.

Episode One

The pilot! As the theatre lights go down and after the title has played, we are introduced to a fretting Overseer Bathwin: a big, purple-black brute of a Valkhound. His workers are gathered before him: a fox-centaur Valkhound named Fillian; a muscled black, feline creature named Kragrak; a Valkhound that sort of looks like a cross between a monster and a flower, named Helly; a lanky brown, purple and grey six-legged beast with plated skin--Lorilus; and a swift creature with a serpentine build but a grey-purple humanoid upper body and flowing silver hair, named Vostilor. Baldwin explains (with obvious exposition for the audience) to his workers that they've been tasked with preparing three new caves for the Nest. Each is given their new responsibilities.

Fillian is to fine-tune the architecture, Kragrak must keep them save and arrange patrols and hunts, Helly must prepare foliage and plant life, Lorilus must prepare special areas for testing creations, and Vostilor has to arrange the flow of water through these caves.

There's an immediate comic misunderstanding about the orders which turns into argument, and just as things become completely chaotic we are introduced to Overseer Nothilus, a snivelling caricature of a spider-like creature who walks in, then sneeringly insists he has to 'go report this' chaos to the Masters. Nothilus is depicted as doing nothing except tattling, so he's a coward and a loser, obviously! As he leaves, Bathwin and the others quickly get to work, brilliantly helping each other solve their own problems with Teamwork™.

Nothilus returns near the end of the episode with Master Solerus in tow: a creature of Chaos, humanoid and tall and flaring with rainbow light.

In a comedic twist, the group has already finished a lot of hasty work, making Nothilus look bad in front of Master Solerus! As Kragrak mutters under his breath: "get absolutely wrecked."

The show ends with Over Bathwin praising his group after the Master and other Overseer have departed, and promising that although they have done well, they are only just getting started.

As the episode ends, the lights come up, the credits music playing.

Characters are free to be posted here or in other threads as watching the show..

Zoey had seen Over/Seen! once or twice, but today when she arrived to catch the first episode once more, she brought with her a scroll and several pieces of charcoal.

She was, most likely, going to make kind of a mess. She splayed out on the walkway of the cinema, the scroll tucked under her carapace and her talons clutching one of the chunks of charcoal.

It was going to take a few showing to get this done, she thought. Everyone talked really, really fast.

But she was determined, and indeed, though it took most of an afternoon... The popcorn kept her going. Her talons were filthy with charcoal by the end, but she rolled up the parchment. A few typos-- she didn't exactly have the best spelling-- and her handwriting wasn't especially good... but it was a full transcript. She even put line breaks for where she wanted the different sections of her crystal to divide the story up.

It was a piece of art, for certain. Feeling fully recovered, it was time to go back to work on the crystal.

( zoey exit, but please feel free to @ her if you want to see what shes doing at the cinema lmao )

This place wasn't natural and for that reason, Julian was attracted to it. It had taken a good portion of the day for them to find their way in to the cinema, and then had to plot a way up to the top of a seat. During this time they found a few things discarded upon the floor: a kernel of popcorn which looked a little bit green, a slip of paper that reminded them of the leaf-litter from outside (and maybe it was only that); of the two, they took the paper. A few well-placed jumps assisted the frog in climbing to the top of a chair, and the paper served as a sort-of shelter as the title sequence played. It was very loud! It was very loud and the noises did not make a lot of sense to the tiny, sensitive frog-creature, and after the sounds ceased Julian could be witnessed lifting the paper as if it had sheltered them at all from the cacophony.

The unfolding episode was a bit confusing at first, if only for the fact Julian had never seen anything like it before, and while they considered themselves a very intelligent creature the appearance of certain characters only served to confuse them further. Solerus, Moethan... Bathwin, who was intimidating to the tiny frog as they watched - but eventually the story progressed to the introduction of a giant spider creature, Nothilus; overall it appeared to be less couched in reality and more sentimentality, at least according to the imperturbably serious Julian.

Finally the lights dimmed, the show was over - and the lonely little frog was sitting there with many questions and no way to satiate their curiosity. They made mental notes of all these names - at least for their own gratification. Maybe there was a little grain of truth within the show? Julian needed to know if these were real entities, simulacrums, or merely concepts given form to impart some sort of lesson. More than likely it was the latter - as it was the group's success that heralded the denouement and finally the close of the show.

With a huff, Julian looked around and began to plot their way back down from the top of the seat. It had been worth it to at least be given these names, and to ignite these many questions flooding the frog's tiny but mighty brain.

(at one of the showings after zoey's, also feel free to @ me to continue.)
