She didn't even have the breath or the energy to scream, which was probably for the best. Well, it sucked, but screaming was sort of embarrassing, and she'd have hated for her final moments to be embarrassing.
And at least it wasn't too painful. On a scale of one to ten, getting murderously anesthetized by a tentacle-plant wasn't the worst way to go. The constriction was... three? Four?
Consciousness faded, and a jarring jolt brought it back, if only briefly. A thud as her head (and entire body) hit the ground, one that unpleasantly left her with a backache and a headache already surging through her. She wasn't dead, but she could feel the gemstone already creeping over her. Had it kept the plant from eating her-? A flurry of movement left a rustle, a vibration, that told her she wasn't alone. That the plant wasn't the only thing there, either, Bitey not included. The screech that followed was horrific, and even in her state (sliding away into sleep), she flinched.
Her vision stirred to color briefly enough for her to see the thing: eyeless, monstrous, draconic. One hand reached weakly for it, and her words--
If there was a prize left behind, it wasn't anything she'd find until she woke; in the meantime, she was unconscious, a beautiful bright purple topaz rising around her only to be covered by muck and dripping sap.
