The chrysalis that held this canine was beautiful, like an opal, with dull blues and bright emerald greens. It lay nestled against not one but two large mountains, as if placed directly in between the both of them. Wedged perfectly in place; a place that looked so out of place for its vibrant coloration.

It remained safe there, tucked away, as if it was a forgotten gem - until one day, a large, visible crackle surfaced for many moments before the entire thing shattered all at once, leaving a growling pup.

She was continuing to explore a little, exploring the lands and trying to find a place to call home. At this point, that's all she really wanted. Her eyes softened as she sighed to herself, thinking about a nice, warm home, a safe place to rest without worry of all the strangers she had run across.

She was so into her own mind, she hadn't even noticed she was walking past another chrysalis like the one she had emerged from until suddenly it cracked open and she let out a startled screech, scrambling away from the now broken crystal, her eyes wide and her heart racing.

Her ears pinned down and she pressed herself against the ground, watching the newly hatched stranger taking a small step back as they growled. This was not how she had expected to spend her day.

The growling, trembling child glared up at the world, completely unaware that he’d just lowered the core temperatures of his body to shatter the chrysalis in order to aid his escape.

He blinked at the sight of a fleeing creature; her white, gray tipped tail, and the way her body pressed against the ground. For a moment, the boy stared at her, taking the time to survey her for any clues, and when he found none other than her fear - he turned his attention to everything else as he took a slow step towards her.

Unless, he takes pause, and tilted his head: was there something to fear that he wasn't seeing?

She pinned her ears back as he got closer, tilting her head slightly to look up at him for a moment. He seemed to pause and take a sense of their surroundings, but her attention was on him completely, not daring to look away from him. Once his attention went back on her though, she froze, unsure of what to do.

He was larger than her, though they were both very small, and he was clearly more confident than her. For a moment she hesitated before doing the first thing that she could think of to possibly defuse the situation, the tension that she was feeling growing between them.

Slowly opening her mouth, only for absolutely nothing to happen. Well.. that was awkward. Slowly she closed her mouth again, feeling her face heating up instantly in embarrassment. Now she must have looked so stupid. She cast her eyes down to her paws, really not wanting to look him in the eyes after her failed magic attempt.

Softly, barely a whisper, she spoke up for the first time. "I'm sorry..." She wasn't really sure what she was apologizing for, but she felt like she did something wrong. Probably everything.

The boy stared for a long, long moment at the girl. Taking in everything that there was to absorb from this meeting; she was frightened - but her sole focus was not on anything but him, leaving Arvid to assume that her fear was not on anything else.

He was quiet for a moment as he took in their scents; they were alone, too. And then she was about to speak, or do something, and his brows arched - but nothing happened. What was that, an attempt to defend herself, or to impress him?

Followed by an apology? Why? Arvid narrowed his eyes and tilted his head at her. Do you have something you need to be sorry for?

He opened his mouth again, wondering if that was his magic source, too - but nothing happened. He frowned and tilted his head. Weird.

She paused for a moment, unsure how to really answer that question. What was she apologizing for? At this point, just existing, but she figured that wouldn't be a good answer so she just kinda shrugged a little, looking up at him hesitantly. "For uh... intruding. I didn't know... there was someone else here." She flicked her gaze past him to look at the chrysalis he had broken out of, taking a moment to look at the colors and the differences between his and her own. His reminded her of a gem, beautiful and elegant, and when she glanced back up at him, seeing how confident and regal he looked beside her small and timid form, she had come to the conclusion that it fit him. Her own had been a series of deep blues and green, similar to a deep ocean swirling around.

After a few moments she would speak up, hoping to make some sort of headway in this awkward conversation, though she doubted he even noticed how tense it felt for her. "I'm.. uh... Aerys." She knew he didn't really ask, and though she figured he really wouldn't care either, she hoped to at least get his name out of it.
