Aki was never truly tired. Even if he was but a forming critter inside of a chrysalis, he was always moving, jerking to noises and scrabbling at his cocoon. His stiff leg folded underneath him in an uncomfortable manner. The leg was quite a bother. It was an unfortunate place for the thing to latch on, really. Aki would live a much better life if he was not held back by the Citrine. He would have probably had an easier time crawling out of his chrysalis if he could move properly, too.

Aki was always wet. Then again, he was in a sort of egg, so of course there would be.. Fluid. No one has ever seen a dry egg before, have they? Not naturally, he hoped. Aki could see out of the thin orange shell, and could see his drab gray expression. He always looked tired— It wasn’t very fun making eye contact with himself all day. The world outside of the chrysalis wasn’t very fun either. In fact, it was just pitch black. It worried Aki sometimes- When he got out of his chrysalis, would he simply exist in the void? That did not sound very fun. Aki wanted to explore. He did not like the confines of the cocoon.

Aki’s forepaws rested steadily on the smooth, glass-like surface. His orange eyes reflected back at him— The most colorful thing he had seen besides his own chrysalis. He flexed his toes against the glass, tilting his body forwards and digging his claws into the surface. A spiderweb of cracks formed between his paws, and his body lurched forwards as it cracked with a large, shattering sound. Aki stood on all fours, legs in a small pool of fluid, still inside the chrysalis, and front paws in.. more liquid, murky and dirty, unlike the liquid that was in his egg-thing.

Smoky, thin wisps of humid air curled around Aki’s body as he sucked in his first few breaths of fresh- and wet- air. His legs shook with the unfamiliar weight of his own body. A low whimper escaped his throat as he looked around. It was still very dark, too dark. He could not see anything- Except now, it was due to both the darkness and the pale fog that he could not— for some reason— see when he was inside of his chrysalis. Aki’s jaw was tense and his eyebrows furrowed as he turned slowly in a circle, his body tilted at an awkward angle to keep his stiff leg above the water. He could not see anything. He wanted to see.

Aki willed himself to be able to see. He tried to focus on the faraway shadows and dancing shapes that he could both see and not see. He squeezed them shut, counting ever so slowly to 3. As he opened them, his breathing picked up speed with fear. The darkness around him was still there, everything shrouded and wet. His face tightened further as he looked around, stilling and setting his sore, unmoving leg into the water.

She wandered through the land, slowly getting a feel for everything around her, slowly becoming more accustomed to her abilities and the magic she could feel in the world around her. She was small but that didn't stop her from protecting herself, feeding herself and doing everything for herself. She didn't have anyone to help her, and she wouldn't have asked for help regardless.

Even now, as she finished up the hunt of a cave rat, she settled down and began to eat it, only taking a moment to look around to make sure there was no danger that could threaten her. She could detect something, life, not too far away and curiosity got the better of her.

Picking up her kill, she carried it with her as she peered over some fallen undergrowth. The fog was thick so she couldn't really see anything other than a faint movement, but she could still sense that something small, likely just hatched like she was not that long ago, was over there hidden inside the fog.

Aki was tired. He let his limp paw drag in the water as he took sloppy, stumbling steps forwards. He may not have been able to see very well, but he could hear, and he picked up the shuffle of paw-steps, over the sound of the trickle of water and rustle of plant life. He opened his jaws to speak as he turned to the right, his voice raspy and low despite his young-ness.

“Hello?”

Aki’s call was followed by a series of coughs, and he focused harder on the brush around him, willing himself to make out the shapes of what was beyond them. He was sure that he was not in any sense of danger, but even one as young as he had some basic survival instincts.

Aki was surprised at how suddenly his eyes seemed to adjust to the shadows, the trees around him and water above his paws becoming much clearer as he stared on. He studied the foliage- There was someone, most definitely, but their form was still shrouded by the damp fog. Aki whined out a secondary call, only a few seconds after the last.

“Who’s… Hello?”

A voice called out to her, and a body didn't come rushing towards her in an attack. So that was something at least. She seemed to think for a moment, eyes narrowed as she watched the form in the fog. Finally, only then, would she walk closer, coming to a stop only once the other's form became clearer, giving her still enough room to bolt if needed.

She nodding her head to the other in greeting for a moment, though her eyes never left them, friendly but guarded. "Hello there, who are you?" She asked hesitantly, flicking her tail behind her. This creature was small like her, but she was slightly unsure what exactly it was. He wasn't a wolf like her, or anything really canine like and he didn't seem feline like either, so what the hell was he?

Aki stared, even more intently as the figure approached. Small like him, yet larger. From what he could see, they were similar- Long muzzles, scruffy necks... This one seemed to be able to move its leg a-okay, though. Who was he? Aki knew- He felt that he knew. He felt as if he was born knowing that- His name. That's what the other was asking for, no? His name. Aki knew- his name.

"Aki."

He realized that that sentence did not seem quite right- Just saying his name, as if it were a demand. He took a deep breath, taking a slow step forwards.

"I am Aki. Who are you?"

Aki. What a strange name, but who was she to judge? Her name was strange to others too she supposed, so it wasn't her place to judge. At least he didn't seem like some weaselly bastard that she would have to worry about doing sketch shit. But as far as she knew, they could be crazy anyway.

But that was besides the point, she didn't really trust most people anyway, and he was no different. But at least she could try and get to know him a bit better. Nice to meet you Aki, my name's Eira. She flicked her gaze around for a moment. Do you know what this place is? She finally turned her attention back to him, cocking her head to the side for a moment as she awaited his response.

Eira was a nice name. It suited the canine- From what Aki himself could see. He looked around too- All tall, towering black trees that blended with shadows, and black water that clouded around Aki’s shuffling paws, sucking him down into mud. A drowned forest- No, not drowned, because if it were drowned, it would be dead.

“A very wet forest.”

He concluded. Aki moved forwards still, hoping that he would not frighten the other person- Or would not cause him to get murdered. He simply didn't want to stand in the water anymore, so he strutted onto the dry land, shuffling his legs and collecting them underneath him. This was a much better view of Eira- She was definitely larger than him.

She couldn't help the snort that escaped her as he blatenly called it a 'very wet forest' and the amusement was clear on her face. Well, you certainly aint wrong about that. She noticed him inching closer and would raise an eyebrow, stepping back to give him space. Calm yourself, I'm not going to attack you, you're not what I look for when I search for lunch. She gestured with her head for him to come closer, letting him get out of the water and onto a better, though still damp, ground.

You hungry? She figured she ask, finding herself a bit hungry as well. She wasn't really sure what he ate, but if it was meat, perhaps they could hunt together, find something for the both of them. If he didn't.... well that would be his problem, not hers.
