The fight against her crushing weight, even though she had let up enough, pleased the Overseer. She was glad that the wolf pup hadn't decided to simply give in or demand she let her free without any repercussions or challenges. She had already learned since awakening that the gembound were not particularly weak. Most of them, anyways. It was good to confirm they were still hatching strong.
She considered the young wolf in front of her. So fiery, independent, a little bit entitled. Things that could be bent or molded. Hm.

Pyrosera huffed. As ferocious she made herself sound, she didn't seem to particularly enjoy being a test rat. Ears flickered behind her. Well one way to find out.
That was a lie, she didn't want anything to do with the Spire. But to learn more about it? Yes. She must learn more about its great power. A swift flicker of her tail, it made her anxious to approach. Yet she herself was curious about it..
Tectus chuckled again. As if she would dare subject herself to whatever horrors the Spire had in store for her. She was sure it would - the Black Spire had been volitile enough and this one, while not inherently chaotic in nature, was still crackling with enough energy to burn her skin and scales right off her bones.
Her head tilted ever-so-slightly and her eyes widened a fraction at the young one's proclamation. Sounded like an excuse to her - she'd heard enough of them over the years.

Pyrosera huffed. All the pup knew was not a whole lot. No one told her anything. She just figured it was for show. Something someone put there and claimed it was all great and powerful. But then again, someone that seemed so old should know a lot. Would she reason with that? Probably not.
Yeah that sounded like a good excuse for her to muster up. Surely wasn't the fear talking. Not at all.
The edges of her perpetual grin rose just a bit. Another short chuckle of amusement.
Maybe a demonstration was in order. She glanced down at her foot and made to cleave off a small section of the rock beneath a foot. But, alas, she was not built to be a spellcaster. A short backfire of the spell and part of one of her claws was broken away, instead. She stared, barely flinching at the pain, but then just picked that right up, like it was what she had been intending the entire time.
She showed it to the pup and then tossed it to the Spire. Where it bounced against the turqoise crystal, there was a sudden zzap! as the magic reacted, a small bolt of pure energy branching out to sear into the hard keratin, which crumbled at its touch. A small scattering of ash and chunks of destroyed keratin fell to the ground in its wake.
Tectus shrugged.
