Deli
In this little thief's endless cave searching for more mischief to make, more things to steal, and more pleasures to be had, Deli had found themselves against the back wall of Eridanus, where the mold infestation was not so bad. And lo and behold, a small crack in the wall led to a forgotten den with a peridot chrysalis and...ah! Trinkets!

They snickered softly to themselves as they snuck in, squeezing between the rocks and immediately flitting around the edges of the den, poking at some of the long-forgotten bones, assortment of objects and...

Ah...

In one of the piles, a perfect, pristine shard of diamond. Deli picked it carefully from the pile and held it up to the light. It felt oddly...cold, despite the air in here being rather temperate.

He grinned. This was definitely something special wasn't it? He was about to stash the stone away as well, when a crack split the air. A bark of surprise and he dropped the crystal, quickly throwing himself forward to try and get it back.

She had gone undisturbed for many, many cycles. A chrysalis forgotten in the back of Eridanus where she'd been slumbering since the end of the Trials. She didn't remember why she'd hibernated but. Eh. It didn't matter, not after so much time had passed.

And, really, she fully intended on sleeping for another 10 years, probably, but then sound and presence drifted across her unconscious mind, rousing it softly from its multi-year slumber. Nobody had been in here for a while so, when there was movement, she reaction.

A crack split the air as pupil-less green eyes snapped open. She saw green, partially transluscent, and on the other side, a shape, their movements quick and snappy. She was confused. Who the fuck was in her den?

Shide thrust her head forward, bursting out from the chrysalis walls, and found herself face to face with a strangely colored canine, who blinked back at her, wide-eyed.

There was a beat of silence as she stared at the dog-thing, eyes darting down to the diamond it held in its hand, and back up to them. "What the fuck are you doing?"

Deli
Just as they finally managed to snag the diamond from the ground again, the stone next to them partially shattered and they found themselves face to face with a rather bizarre looking creature. "Uh." They grinned, looking at the diamond and back up to her.

This was a little awkward.

"Sorry!" they giggled, trying to shrug their shoulders as casually as possible. "Didn't know anyone was still alive in here!" Well, shit, getting that little diamond wasn't going to be very easy now that they'd been caught, but oh they wanted it. They glanced down again and, after a moment consideration, closed their fist. "Well, I won't keep you!" and instantly jumped to their feet, intending on strolling right out.

Shida wasn't a fucking idiot. An eyebrow quirked at the likely story and she rolled her shoulders back as she stepped forward, the rest of the chrysalis shattering around her. "Yea, sure. You were just here to steal shit, huh?" She caught the closed fist, she caught the glint in their eye. They weren't intending on leaving here without that precious diamond shard.

No fucking way. That was her stone, her reward from the Trials. And she wasn't letting this random rainbow dog leave with it!

As they made to stand up, Shida immediately darted around them, standing between them and the entrance. "Sure. Just drop the diamond first."

Deli
Shit, well, looks like Deli wasn't getting out of here without a fight, huh? They stared at Shida, that shit-eating smile never dropping from their expression. They raised the hand that was holding the diamond and began to fidget with it, dancing it between their fingers, tossing it up and catching it, and then, with a flick of the wrist, willed the beast to just turn around, walk to the side, and let them leave.

"No, I think I won't. I'll be leaving with it, thanks."

She met the canine's gaze, intent on not letting this shit slide, but the sudden jerk of her own limbs broke her glare for a second, out of sheer surprise. "What the-" and suddenly...she was moving out of the way. It caught her off guard for a moment and she shuffled halfway out of their way before her body caught up to her. Her muscles suddenly locked and tensed and her body slammed to a halt as she threw all her effort into resisting it.

She hissed, she spat, her eyes looked as far to the side as she could and glared daggers. "Fucking...coward! Piece of shit ugly motherfucker that's my diamond, I'll fucking kill you, give it back!" All of her effort went into getting herself to move, and she did, inch by inch forcing her body to turn back around and face them.

Deli
Deli snickered and made to move past and out of the cave, but as soon as they were about to sneak through the crack in the wall, they paused at the word "ugly". Ugh, they'd been called names before; asshole, motherfucker, piece of shit, but being called UGLY was personal. Deli considered themselves a work of art. They'd painted their own designs on themselves and was in the process of doing ever more. So someone saying "ugly", even off-handed, was very very close to being an insult towards their art.

And yeah. Deli didn't take that kind of insult very well.

Head turned, slowly, almost comically so. Their lips curled back as the grin went wider, almost a delighted manic smile on their face. "You, uh, wanna repeat what you just said?" And in the meantime, magic collected in their mouth, poisoning their saliva in preperation for what was about to happen.

She honestly didn't expect the insults to do anything at all, so she was surprised when the dog turned around. She could feel the danger coming from them, the manic glint in their eyes. But she had struck a nerve and she was angry and she didn't care. So she pressed that advantage while she continued to fight against the magic that held her there, which was beginning to weaken.

"Yeah, you're fucking UGLY. Dumbass neon paint and shit who did that? Looks like a baby threw up rainbows and you got caught in the crossfire! Betcha that's why you're fuckin stealing for sleepers, who the fuck would talk to you willingly?"

Deli
There it was. A direct insult to the artistry of Deli's "tattoos" was definitely a line toed, crossed, and stomped on. Fury exploded from their heart and if it was real fire that had lit up in their eyes, it would have burned a hole right through their skull.

"How. DARE YOU. THIS IS MY ART. MY ART! YOU FUCKIN" And then it devolved into inane barking as they lunged forward, teeth primed and ready to bite and sink that venom they'd oh-so-smartly prepared into her body.

ATTEMPT: poison bite
DEFENSE: none

Well, she hadn't actually expected the insane flurry they fell into after her kinda half-assed, improvised insults, but at least it was convenient. She'd rather fight this out then let them walk away, even if she lost.

The magic had worn off by now, but she didn't quite have the chance to react as the dog was suddenly on top of her, teeth sinking into her shoulder. She yelped at the sharp pain of them, flinching back and curling in a bit as her back leg raised and struck out against the canine to kick him hard and throw him off of her.
