As it burst into Pegasus, it had to pause a moment just to take in how
huge this new room was. Tunnel G was cramped, like a hungry stone gullet eager to swallow any prey that lingered too long. In comparison, Pegasus was so sprawling that its walls weren't even visible, obscured by it's rolling hills and forests.
As awe-inspiring as this sight was, it didn't stay still for long. It had a single-minded mission- to find something to eat- and nothing was going to stop it, even the majesty of nature.
Along the edge of the forest flitted a Kyte, the reptilian creature currently focused wholly on hunting for bugs.
It slowed down as it caught sight of it's prey, instinct taking over as it began to creep forward, closing the distance. Unfortunately, Kytes are creatures with an incredible sense of sight. The Agate was spotted before it could fully close the distance, and it had to make a mad dash before the Kyte could fly away. It clamped it's teeth around the end of the lesser's tail, causing it to screech in pain and fear, flapping madly as The Agate struggled to get its prey under control.

Oops, I slept through my alarm
It was vaguely aware of Nidhogg's panicked scramble to catch up to it, but it's primary focus was the flying reptile whose tail was precariously snagged between its teeth. The kyte was, while still substantially smaller than The Agate, still a pretty ambitious option for someone operating on instincts and hunger alone. The kyte screeched, beating its wings in the Agate's face, battering it's muzzle.
The agate refused to let go, but with it's short limbs it struggled to get it's prey under control, and could do little else but hold on and let itself be slapped repeatedly in the face.
@Nidhogg
A good parent would probably be there for when their child fell. A good parent would encourage a kid, ready to catch them, but without interfering.
Nidhogg was not a good parent.
As he caught up, his only thought was to help Agate; his only instinct was sudden excitement at flapping prey. So he launched himself for it, not aiding by "being there" but by helping to take the prey down.
The thing was, Nidhogg wasn't good at fighting. He was good when it was stuff MUCH bigger than him, where he could use stealth and cunning and agility to outmaneuver it. And when it was tiny stuff, he could sneak up and pounce. But he leapt for this, and hit it--and his jaws snapped shut on nothing--and he sailed past--and he hit the ground--and he rolled-
...and rolled...
He was a noodle shape, and this meant that while his child struggled with their first meal, Nidhogg went flipping down the nearby hill like a black spaghetti.
@V-Agate-One (i am so sorry he is not helpful)
Something tumbled past it, and the agate very nearly let go of its prey out of shock. But it couldn't just let such an opportunity go. It would have to check that out later.
Clearly, just holding onto its prey's tail wasn't working, and the agate was getting very, VERY annoyed of the wings slapping it in the face. It would let go just long enough to lunge forward and snatch one of the kyte's wings in its jaws, biting down with all of it's significantly powerful bite force and WRENCHING its head to the side. If it injured- or better yet, broke- this thing's wing, then it wouldn't have to worry about its prey getting away.
@Nidhogg
The kyte wasn't going anywhere with its broken wing, but it certainly was putting up a fight. The agate was battered by the kyte's wings and slapped with its tail before it got its prey under control, finally ending things with a definitive bite to the neck. At this point it was exhausted and VERY hungry, so it dove in as soon as the kyte stopped struggling. It was certainly not in the mood to share, growling and glaring warily if Nidhogg got too close. It made quick work of its meal, so Nidhogg wouldn't have much of a chance to steal a bite, anyways.
Finally it lifted its head to look over at Nidhogg, ready to acknowledge him now that it's single-minded desire for food had been sated. For a long moment it just kind of stared.
"Wwwhat now?" It drawled,
"You said... things? About names? Vargas? The forge?" None of these words had any real meaning to it, it was just parroting back what Nidhogg had said to it back in the tunnel.
