Aki liked this cave. Perhaps it was a long trek, and the skin on his dragging leg was agitated- Red, puffy, trailing blood like slime trails a slug… But to him, it was worth it when he set his two eyes upon Orion. A sky that seemed full of bright lights, that seemed never ending, and a maze of destroyed buildings with strange etchings and small plants curling around the masses.

He gathered his legs underneath him, having already trudged farther past much debris and trashed homes, and stood perched atop a rock-pile, gazing at the world below. It was beautiful, a place he could call home if he did not already have one.

Aki’s attention shifted quickly to the etchings on the stones, small simple carvings, some shallow and most likely meaningless, left over from when others roamed, or when the place was brought down. He didn’t let up the hope though, that maybe, somehow, these were more carvings— Like the ones he had spotted almost a cycle ago, where he had met the weird scaled creature.

I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see the light in the shade of the morning sun

The broken shards of a moonstone lay some distance away and the creature that had carefully climbed from it seemed to have the same idea of the hyena. Get to a high point and look up. For there were stars in the stone sky and their glittering beauty danced in her eyes, points of distant light within the darkness. She needed to see them closer, she wanted to touch them, and so onto one of the many dilapidated buildings she went, head turned upwards to see. And see she did.

She was there for a while, setting down to sit, pulling her legs in against her chest as she looked up at the stars, momentarily distracted by the clatter of rock. She caught a glimpse of something moving, a very different color from the cool-toned rocks and speckled white, and curiosity gripped her deeply. A soft hum and she was uncurling herself and hopping from building to rock, nimble and graceful in her movements, and climbing to where she'd seen the color.

She would come up from behind the hyena, slowing when she saw the source. What is it looking at? Eyes traced where his eyes were pointed and she, too, gazed upon the carvings in the stones. Her head tilted and she approached slowly. "What is that?" the cat murmured. "What are you looking at?"
