Nemesis
Nemesis beamed when Fang nodded at her answer. Of course! She knew it! Fang was proud, wasn't she? As her Queen spoke, her smile faltered and she had to think, really think, about what she was saying. There was a better answer, a more correct answer...
Fire. Flame. Magicka. She blinked, watching the mongoose slip away to the pale yellow gem in the dust, her soft red fur glistening in the harsh white light of the cave. Her attention shifted down towards the blue gemstone as she considered this. Magicka. That was the answer.
She wouldn't interrupt her Queen, of course. Her ears twitched as she listened. The mother of her own Fire. Teaching a small one how to grow and live and thrive as a Fire... It sounded too good to be true--
Nem's attention snapped to Fang as she said "Magsie". Babies. Raising. Together. The words hit her frilled face like a truck, a cold washing down her legs and then heat-- burning, burning hot flame washed through her body. She felt her chest twist, her heart beginning to race, her stomach churning with butterflies. How did Fang know?
She stared dumbfoundedly at Diamondfang for a great, long moment. The Trino was at a lost for words, her grey face taking on a deep, red flush-- and not just from the glow of her gem, which was getting fuller and richer in its orange glow by the moment.
When Nemesis finally got ahold of herself, she pressed her nose to the gem and closed her eyes. Don't-- Don't think about that. She couldn't let it get to her. So what if she loved Magdalena? The Princess was beautiful; surely everyone felt what she felt towards such a perfect gembound. Their relationship was simple: she was simply the fire that protected her. Nothing more. Mag wouldn't want to raise a kid with her, right? Come on.
Her tail lashed again as she dispatched those thoughts from her head and focused on pouring her magic into the deep blue crystal. As she tried, her overwhelming thoughts of the Princess by her side, raising a doofy, awkward little Fire sparked something in her.
Her nose caught flame, swarming over the gem. She flinched, but didn't retreat from the gem-- she wasn't scared. Her ears lit too, the heat of her face swelling with licks of fire. She was so embarassed, she literally caught ablaze.
