He wasn't really sure what he was looking for to be honest. Get some luckbites and bring them back. That was his goal, sure he had some descriptions, but he had never actually seeen one before, so he was kind of just winging it. But hey, they were aquatic creatures so it was perfect for him considering he spent most of his time in water ways anyway.
Even now, most people would probably be looking from dry land but he was not like most people. He was swimming through the water, head dunked in and holding his breath as he swam by and searched the sea ground, coming up for air every now and then.
As he took a deep breath and ducked under again, his eyes widened when he saw not one, but two that matched the description he had been given. Perfect! Diving under, he was careful as he picked them up in his jaws and placed them on the shore, a large smile on his face.
Okay so that was two gathered already. Look at him, making progress. He was doing good and was rather proud of himself right now.
With a small smile, he nodded his head, mostly to himself, and dove back in, swimming across the floor of the river until he found another one, which wasn't too difficult to do. It seemed these things weren't as insidious as he had expected.
And so, picking the third one up, he would swim back to his pile and plop it down, taking a moment to catch his breath.
He could do this, just one more and he would have enough.
So, he took a big breath and dove under, scanning the ground for the last little creature he needed. However, he wasn't really looking where he was going and ended up running head first into an underwater rock. He quickly resurfaced, whimpering and pawing at his head slightly.
That hurt!
After taking a moment for his head to stop pounding, he took another deep breath and ducked under this water, this time being much more cautious with where he was going.
His eyes widened when he saw not just what he was looking for, but also a few very shiny shells that weren't currently in use. Of course he loved shiny things and quickly picked them up along with the luckbite.
Gathering his pile of goodies, he carefully made his way back, content with his findings.
