Grishia stood squinting at the bones that she'd collected.
She was nearish the West Wall, but far enough that the bones here were new to her. The staff she held in one hand was far, far too large for her: its opalized ash wood too thick, the crescent rainbow moonstone at its top too heavy. The myriad teeth, ribbons and other decorations would have dragged, were she not so very careful to keep it all upright. Either way, it was clear the cub had a long while yet before growing into her staff, yet she held it higher, huffing a little with the effort. It didn't help that her heart was gemstone, also way too big at this age, and weighing her down even further. But she wasn't thinking of any of that right now.
Her focus was on the bones. Some were extra spiky, or weirdly... round. She didn't recognize a lot of them, but she'd tried to match as much as she could into a relatively coherent skeleton.
It might have been a little weird, though, to round a corner and see a sooty gray hyena cub standing on her hind legs, holding a staff and pointing at some bones.
It would've probably been even weirder for someone unfamiliar with her spell to see the bones slowly assemble, pulling themselves upright into a form somewhere between a rat and a dog, with odd spines littered throughout its spine and ribs. And weirder still, maybe, to see it stare sightlessly up at the cub, who grinned down with her teeth bared in delight.
