make sure you kiss your knuckles
before you punch me in the face

The silence was something the creature had become unwillingly accustomed to. It's 'peace' was not something the beast could find, where some would see a sacred sanctuary, clean and untarnished by evil (until broken, of course) she saw nothing. She felt nothing. She thought nothing. Deep down, she hated it.
There soon came a soft crack, springing the creature's mind into conscioussness. Where there was once a blank emptiness, there was sudden franticness - something she soon realised could be called 'fear.' Before she could even comprehend what was happening, she was flung out of the dark prison she had came to despise.
She was free.
The creature lay, recovering from her abrupt dispatch from the chyrsalis. Shards of dark green where strewn across her autumn coloured coat - but slowly, she lifted her head. She looked no different from a newborn fox, albeit with longer legs.
The fox got up, eyes blinking slowly in order to adjust to the bright light. She breathed in, then breathed out. Surrounding her was more green, and there seemed to be something lodged in her inner thigh. It wasn't too discomforting however, as the fox began to wander off in silence, still dripping from the fluids within the chrysalis.
"Listen to me."
