Reid's ears swiveled back and forth. She was on the prowl for money; she needed mice for money, and she needed money for beer, particularly for her little shopping list. At least she needed something; encouraged to go out and familiarize herself with living, the first thing she did was go to top off the Shapers' stores of alcohol.
Of course, the bear at the counter wanted coins. What's coins, she'd asked, and she was told to exchange them. Alright. And for some reason, mice were worth coins?
Well, she could find mice. That was easy. The hard part would be bringing them back. Maybe she could tie them together, but then she could lose them, but she'll just deal with that eventually. Whatever! For now she focused on the sound of singing, tracing it with her head low through the thick mud of Cetus. There. Focusing, Reid cut through raised mud and ripped out a squealing molemouse, killing it quickly with a bite to its neck.

The scent of fresh prey hit her senses quickly; it was so tempted to eat it instead, but... no. No, she needed the coins, she came here on a mission.
Taking the muddy mouse in her jaw, Reid turned for higher, dryer ground, as if she could find any. It took too much trudging in the mud to find anywhere fitting to even stash her prey, settling on leaving it higher up in the crook of a tree so it wouldn't just taste like raw mud by the time she got back. Now to just get back to finding more molemice, and... right, where did she come from..?

She might as well just pick a direction and go.
Stalking through the mud, Reid paced as quietly as she could to hear over the buzz of life around her, struggling to pinpoint more scuffling over the din. Her eyes were forward, not down; one careless step and her full weight went into the hole of a den, paw landing directly into the back of a molemouse and killing it there.
Oh, shit? Reid's fur puffed out for a moment in fear, but feeling around she could tell that hey... another mouse?
Sick.
Gathering it (and making sure it was already dead), Reid returned to her cache and headed back out.

She was quick to return to the scene of the crime; shoving her head into the den she'd destroyed, Reid scrabbled for anything more, flinching at an ineffective scratch at her gem.
Oh, no you don't. Snapping, Reid rooted for the molemouse and dragged it out, throwing it down to the ground and beating it until it perished. Another one to carry back, but that den was over... She'd have to go elsewhere.

It took her too much wandering to get the next hint of prey; while she heard the noise of molemice, they were too distant, too buried in the mud, and she was already covered in it. There weren't any visible mounds close to her cache.
Minutes of trudging came up with nothing. It was only as she was circling back around that she heard a single chrp, a possible mouse. Was that..? Stopping suddenly, Reid waited and waited, straining, listening. Another chirp. There. Pushing forward, Reid leapt like a fox and began digging like a man crazed, tearing out the mouse by the tail and biting its neck.
Another one down.
