All suspicions are confirmed when Galleon talks again, and Vakornol barks out a short peal of disbelieving laughter. "Knew you were holdin' back on this old biddy!" To which she takes no offense, as evidenced by her follow-up: "I'm fresh out of retirement and off my game today, but that doesn't mean you gotta take it easy on me."
Tossing her grinning muzzle upward, she puts on an elderly affect:"Back in my day, the prize was just living to fight another fight. We only fought for fun some of the time."
Darting closer to Galleon— with care given to her sprained ankle, still— Vakornol continues in her normal tone,"I'm just here to have fun. Kick my ass and win your way up the tournament, if you want that kinda fun."
The sandshark's avoided the worst of her deflected assault, which is ultimately a good thing; the fight's still on, and Vakornol's got a second wind in her own sails. There's not much room for doing anything but impressing the judges and audience with her technique after being tossed around for the majority of this tussle's duration. No permanent, lasting injury is proving to be a rougher prospect than anticipated with how tough those scutes are and how tempting it is to rip at the softer parts to get a quicker ending to the match.
Everyone looks rather dandy with scars on the face though, right? That's a nice present to give. Gonna have to be quick before she re-submerges, though. Hopefully, the chatter's a good enough distraction for it.
Vakornol lunges for her face, then, claws bared to catch whatever she can that isn't something vulnerable like an eyeball (a bit hard to reach anyway) with a few claw-strikes; all intended to carving flattering vertical lines into the scutes of Galleon's dome.
