The crunching of bones under him echoed something deeply warm in his belly, rising up like lava in his chest. Every inch of his skin tingled with the delight and satisfaction of, at last, one of his blow landing and devastating the poor fool below him. A carnal, animal pleasure that delighted in destruction, in blood, nearly choked him in the moment. But he was Azrael, and while the blow to his pride had sent him into a rage, he knew how to eventually temper himself. All it had taken was this pleasure to realign the neurons, to clear the haze of revenge, vengeance, kill KILL from his mind.
He wanted to continue brutalizing the poor thing, to chase the feeling on and on, but he held himself back. She had been his opponent, not his enemy. And she had, in the end, given him the fight he craved. He didn't move quickly now, knowing that this fight was about to reach its conclusion, and simply stood back up straight and allowed Relic to stumble back to her feet.
He stared at her, growling, but there was no longer any malice in his voice. He stared at the hyena with a level, passive gaze, as if this was the outcome that was always coming, as if none of the frustration of the last two minutes mattered, because this was always how it would end. But he could see there was still fire in her gaze. He nodded, and while he doubted his words would reach past the agony and adrenaline, he rumbled, "You fought well. A cunning warrior. I will give you a glorious death."
He lunged forward, two arms reaching forward to snag onto the muscle of her wing and dragging it out. His claws punctured straight through the thin membrane and dug into the thin, powerful muscles pulled with all his might. No matter the clawing or biting that she did, that he allowed her to do in this moment, Azrael threw her far over his shoulder, with a roar that shook the forum.
For a moment, Relic would fly through the air in an arc, as Azrael's strength ripped her from the stone she was standing on. But then, just as quickly, he was pulling her back down on the other side. Like she was a hammer, the ground a nail.
