"Oh!" Jinyi exclaimed softly as the figurine began to chime. It resembles the sound the music boxes make, he mused, thinking back to the clockwork trinket he had been modifying himself. How fitting that his first two enchantments would be somehow unintentionally related like this!
"It's great," he assured Ember with a warm smile. "I really like the effect!" He held up the glowing figure of Ember next to his own chiming likeness. "Isn't that cute? Friends :)"
@Ember oops sorry i genuinely did not realize it had been eight hundred years
Ember grinned, even laughed a little. It was almost relief, too. After the awkward start to conversation, it was nice to have made a new friend.
"Great," he echoed, but it was satisfaction at Jinyi's approval than a comment on the actual results. "So--you get it, now? You got what you came for?" Ember sounded hopeful. And then, polite: "Can I offer anything else? I mean, you can stay, you don't need to rush off or anything. But if you wanted to learn anything about forging, or just hang out. Now, or later. It's been nice," he said, testing the word out. Was 'nice' enough? He shook his head, dismissing his own fumbling of his attempt at friendliness. "I mean, you're welcome here any time." He almost asked where Jinyi lived, too. He wouldn't mind visiting, some time. But it seemed... rude? A little presumptuous, at least, to just kind of invite himself for a visit.
