The ground was uneven under the massive hound's pawsteps. He stumbled, clumsily trying to make his way to water, to safety. His head swam with dizziness, a fog blurring his vision as he struggled forward, fumbling into a wall for the third time. With a whimper, he struggled against the wall, putting immense effort into standing, his noses shoved into the hard surface.

Where was he? He pushed his body against the vertical climb, his eyes blinking blearily to try and understand. What had happened? The starlight above twisted and shifted, forming shapes and even colors he couldn't comprehend. Teeth snarled, snapping, down at him, the quartz glittering above forming nightmares in his mind.

With a frightened whimper, he collapsed on to his side, tail tucked between his thighs, curled up against his belly. His paws worked against an invisible current, eventually falling still as the effort became to great. He needed water, but he couldn't understand what was going on around him. His thirst had made him delusional, and even his original panic had gave way to exhaustion.

He was going to die here. There was a distant thought of Bones, still injured, waiting for him back home. Of Giggle, who loved him so dearly, who he still had to prove himself to. Of the kittens and Quix, he wanted to see them grow up so much. Eeya. Eeya needed a friend, like him, would Eeya ever find someone to replace him? He was the vigilant guard of Canis, and without him, what would happen to his family?

Shivering, his heads drove the clinging thoughts away. A barely audible snarl, a whimper, a huff-- he reached out his paw along the wall, and tried to drag himself along it, trying to find the way around. He stretched out his other paw, and it began to glow, his gem desperately trying to keep him alive long enough to find safety.

The air around him grew thick, humid. His ears laid back and he whined, three pitches, growing louder. At this point it actually hurt to put forth any effort in anything, but especially magic.

Paws drummed over the ground, legs carrying her quickly towards the target she was after. Kerberos was nearby as his scent was thickest in this area. Her heart drummed as she could only imagine his state of well-being. Whatever Vazi had done to him had not been kind. He was wrong in his accusation against Kerberos. She knew deep down, though Kerberos had once before attacked her, that Kerberos had not killed Wynry. Her eyes still burned from tears she had shed once Vazi had attacked her over Wynry, but she had forced the emotions away. This was not the time. She had to get to Kerberos quickly.

It wasn't long before his massive form came into view and she nearly cried seeing him unmoving on the ground. 'No! no no no no!' Her thoughts spun out of control as she seemed to run even faster to get beside the three headed creature. Fresh tears began to spring forth into her eyes as she quickly looked him over. His whining was the only thing letting her know she had not fallen to Vazi's attack. "Hold on, Kerb. Just hold on," She choked out, voice shaking as she quickly began to look around. Had she not known Vazi she would not have known what to do. Kerberos needed water, but where in Orion was there even water? It wouldn't have been such a big deal had Kerberos been much smaller. At least then she could have carried him to a water source.

Desperately she lifted her nose and began smelling, searching for anything that would scream water. She would not allow him to die. A cry tore through her throat when she could not find even the slightest hint of a water source. She turned her gaze down to Kerberos and her shattered heart cringed. She would not give up. "Kerberos, just lay still. I will get you some water. I promise. Just hold on..." She nearly pleaded with him to do as she asked. She would not be able to handle another loss. How she was going to get water to him she was unsure, but she would find a way.

Kerberos heard the barking of the Alpha behind him, and in his delusional state nearly had a panic attack, a series of whines escaping from his throat as he tried to stand, clawing against the hard wall he was shoved up against-- trying to escape in the most pathetic way.

"Sorry," he whimpered, "Don't eat me," "Please," he begged and whined, ears folded back low where they could, his tail curled up under his belly and pressed up against his leg. He was scared of her, unsure of her intentions, and more over, wholly frightened by the way he had been taken from okay and healthy to suddenly, incredibly deprived of water. It was enough to make him irrationally fearful of the Alpha who had tore open the cave and nearly swallowed him whole with magic alone.

"Sorry, I'm sorry, sorry--" he whimpered, lowering his heads to the ground, groveling to Arkrael, hoping she wouldn't kill him. He heard her say that she would get him water, which he knew he needed, but he was still quite scared that she might lash out and eat him at any moment.

Arkrael shook her head almost violently as Kerb continued to apologize and beg her not to eat him. "Hush now. I'm not going to eat you. Just lay still. I'm gonna find you some water," She spoke gently, trying to ease his frightened nerves. With a shake of her head, Arkrael turned and jumped a few feet away to look for any spot she could see that would have water.

She had to get him to water. He was far too large for her to even think about being able to help him move from his current location, but maybe if there was a way she could find a water source and break the ground to create a stream that would bring the water right to him. It was all a good idea... she just needed to find the water first. "Just hang on Kerb..."

The worst part of it all was that Kerberos knew where water was. The problem was that when he stood, his heads spun, his body struggled. He wanted to get away and race to the pools where the small cat was and greedily lap them all up... But he was too weak, he just couldn't.

But the wolf, the Alpha, she assured him it would be alright. The puppy let out a pathetic whimper, one head nodding softly. "Puddles," he told her softly, "by the cliffs." He didn't know which way they were-- maybe just beyond the wall he had run head first into, or perhaps some other way entirely. He couldn't see, but he hoped she would be able to figure out where to go... and maybe lead him.

"I'm sorry," he repeated, his other voices whimpering and whining softly. He kept trying to stand-- though Arkrael told him not to, told him he should rest. He had to get to water. She had to show him the way... or eat him. His bright pink eyes watched her, pitifully, the way a helpless lost child would a stranger. Afraid, but willing to trust.

Audits twitched as Kerberos' voice reached her once again. Her frantic gaze dropped down to his three heads and she studied him as he spoke of puddles only for it to be followed by an apology. "You've done nothing wrong," She uttered as she dipped her muzzle down and gently nudged at one of the canine heads. With a nod she shifted, waiting for him to be able to rise to his paws and once he did she stepped closer, hoping beyond hope that she would be able to help steady his size and not be crushed if he fell over.

All seemed to be going well and Arkrael pressed her side against his, but not too hard in fear of knocking him over the opposite direction. Gently she urged him on, speaking gentle coos to make sure he still knew things were going to be fine. It didn't take long to get to the puddles of water he had spoken of and once she spotted the pools of liquid her heart jumped and she pushed him on just a tad quicker. Eager to get him to what he needed.

Her mind continued to wander back to Vazi and each time it did her chest constricted painfully and it felt like she couldn't breathe. Her eyes would begin to burn and she struggled to keep the emotions at bay. She needed to focus on Kerberos and making sure whatever Vazi had done to him did not cause his demise. "Drink slowly, Kerb...You don't want to choke," She murmured to him nuzzling the fur on the closest cranium as if to try and sooth his worries away.

Arkrael led him, weak and bleary eyed, to water just as he asked. As soon as he saw the puddles he wanted to lurch forward, but the soft voice of the Alpha kept him in check. As they drew close, she warned him to drink slowly-- and he listened to her. It was important that he do so, since she was clearly older and wiser, just like Giggle. His middle head reached down to lap at the water, while his orange nosed muzzle snuffled at the grey wolf and gave her a thankful lick.

"Thank you... But why? Why did you come after me, if not to eat me?" Listen, speak and learn. He had to know. All three heads seemed to think this question was good enough, and soon all three pink tongues of his were lapping away at the water in the Orion puddles.

@Arkrael , rip sorry this post is so short,, ;o;

Slowly Arkrael eased herself to sit back upon her haunches. Eats twitched as he spoke and she gave a soft sigh as she turned her gaze back towards the tunnel where Vazi had chased her away. "Because I know it was not you that ended Wynrys life... There would be nothing left of him if you had," a small grin turned to him, the last part a simple tease to try and lighten the mood, but in all honesty it probably wasn't the best time for that. She watched as he lapped up the water, making sure he didn't take it in too quickly as she didn't want it making him sick to the point where he would just regurgitate it back out of his body.

"I'm sorry.... For what he did to you," the words stung for her to say, not because she didn't mean it, but because she never would have thought she would ever have to apologize for a cruel act Vazi may have committed. "Kerb... Did you see anyone else around when you were there? A different scent maybe? I have to find out who killed Wynry," her watery eyes hardened as her upper lip curled just the slightest. Even if Vazi did not believe her and blamed Kerberos and herself over it... She would find the offender and she would tear them into pieces for what they had done.

Kerberos drank as Arkrael explained, almost cracking a joke at his expense. To be fair, she was probably right... But the dog didn't like hunting lesser gembounds-- perhaps Wynry wasn't just a prey animal, even though he certainly seemed like it, falling off the cliff like that. The Alpha seemed to think that someone had killed the sheep, but regretfully, he hadn't caught wiff of any creature above him, watching.

The dog paused in his drinking, laying down by the water, listening to Arkrael, the alpha. She apologized for someone, and he shared a glance with himself. "... The deer? Was that his magic? It was so scary." What was troubling about this was that "he" was a cave deer that talked, one who was intelligent.

It didn't make any sense to him. Deer were supposed to be small, eatable safe things that while he felt guilty for overpowering and outsmarting something so helpless, everyone else insisted it was okay. Yet there that deer was, destroying him without even touching him. It was terrifying. Could he fight the deer, beat it in a fight, and earn the right to eat him-- perhaps, but if it was friends with Arkrael, he didn't dare face her teeth again. The question was if anyone else would find it morally fair to eat a deer that talked. To himself, he quietly wished that the others didn't hold talking gembounds above lesser ones-- it made his hungry stomach struggle, dealing with these strange, unnatural morals.

Remembering to answer Arkrael's question, a whine escaped his throat, "I don't know. I thought he just... Fell." Kerberos turned his heads away from the wolf, staring off towards the ruined city behind them. His heads were spinning, woozy from the excitement, and now exhaustion was taking hold where adrenaline had kept him going.

Arkrael was quiet as she listened to Kerberos speak. Ears pinned back as she turned her gaze away from the three headed beast. Maybe he did just fall on accident. Though, arkrael had never pegged him to be aloof of danger. Or maybe he was. She wasn't at all sure, but all gems should know when being up there on those cliffs that it was dangerous. It just didn't feel right. Something itched at her, causing her to believe there was truly some foul play at hand. Slowly she shook her thoughts. She would go to the cliffs and search for herself, but for now she would wait. Vazi was sure to still be there and she could not face him at the moment.

"You starting to feel better, Kerb?" She inquired as she turned her gaze towards him once more. Her eyes searched over him, trying to see if he was able to replenish the water Vazi had forced out of him. "If you ever see him again...don't hesitate to fight back if you feel it necessary..." he will not hesitate to kill you... her thoughts were grim but the way Vazi reacted and his already assault on Kerberos left Arkrael believing he would do anything to take out Kerberos to avenge Wynry. And even if she was wrong, there really should be no chances taken.
