She pretended to charge at her little cub, but they playfully tricked her and ran right under her feet, hitting her underside in a light swat! She roared as deeply as her voice went, and stumbled around as if losing blood, "RrrrrRRAAAAhhh! How dare the little prince-ling claw my underbelly! My only weakness!"

She grinned and winked at Pounce, which looked almost terrifying through the dragon's mask, huffing and puffing with dramatic gusto.

She called up her magic - maybe she could be mischevious too!

Maybe she was too full of herself, though, maybe she was too distracted. When she called up her thread, she yanked on it without meaning to, and it felt like pulling a hair so hard the roots started to show. She winced under the dragon's mask, feeling that pull from deep inside of herself, and through the little gap around the root of her magic, too much magic spilled out, uncontrolled and wild.

Illusions that were warped and garbled sprung to life, twisting colors and gnarling the shapes of her imagination. Butterflies with unraveling wings, unformed creatures with melting flowers for heads, drunk bubbles of lucid dreaming colors, all and more flowed from her into life. She felt incredibly drained from it all, and her legs were shaky and weak, her eye fading in and out of focus. Was this another waking dream? No, no, she controlled her dreams, this was something else.

"This is how I speak."

Having ran under the dragon's belly and given it a good swat he rolled out from it's path. Its stumbling posture, he gave it a direct hit! Its loud roar bouncing throughout the fog of Cetus. It turned and gave the young cub a wicked grin. One that even then he debated about backing up just a tad. NO! He had to stand his ground! He must win!

The dragon called up its magic! What was it doing! What plans did it have! Before he knew it, illusions had manifested before him on the battlefield. Twisting colors and malformed shapes of the dragon's powers roared with such force it was overwhelming. The dragon was summoning minions! Odd minions at that! Still it wasn't fair! All the colors all the movement, the young cub would have to take matters into its own paws!

He would have to make quick work with all of these minions! Readying himself he leaped to a minion! Only to leap through it?l! They were swirling and so lucid and wavering he couldn't do a thing! All he could do was crumble to the ground at each attempt. Rolling to a stop only to take off after another! This was no use!

She stood there, trying to get her grip on herself, blinking rapidly, swaying on her feet. She barely paid attention to her cub jumping at her insane illusions, barely registering it, but she wouldn't let this twisted dream win. The forms were moving in and out of themselves, making no sense, colors bubbling with no purpose. She tried her best to get it under control, to coax the thread rather than pull on it. At the very least, she would make it stop.

She couldn't control them, she was just too tired. She tried to form them to her will, and they just wouldn't listen, bending and slipping away like water when she reached, so she just ended the spell with a puff. They slipped from view like a river seeping into the cracks in the stones.

Honestly, she wished it would've obeyed her mischievous ways and allowed her to make copies of herself, but in the end, this was for fun. This was for Pounce.

"You have vanquished my minions, little prince-ling," She said in her dramatic voice, smiling under her dragon's mask. "But can you vanquish the dragon?"

Just as soon as they had appeared, the illusions evaporated from the battlefield. Their abstract forms and wild colors that all but confused the young cub, slipped away from his grasp. They were fun to 'battle' to say the least. Ever changing bodies, unique color palettes that he had yet to witness in his life. But all gone within a flash. A wide smile took his features and he stood triumphantly before the dragon. After all, those minions probably vanished because they couldn't keep up with this king!

'You have vanquished my minions, little prince-ling' His thoughts proved to be true! He had vanquished the minions! They couldn't handle the speed and power of such a young jaguar! Of course it made perfect sense! ' But can you vanquish the dragon?' Puffing out his fluffy chest he roared before the dragon! This was the final level! Just the two of them! "I am a king! Nothing stands in my way! But since I was raised proper! I'll give you a one time pass to walk away! We both know this battle is already won!"

He smirked, maybe he should give a bit of a light show of his own. Claws unsheathing, digging into the moist earth below he braced himself. Fur bristling, standing on edge. He could feel the surge building through his muscles. He could feel it rattling from his very bones. He released another 'mighty' roar! Sparks bouncing from tip to tip along his coat. Dancing and jumping off his body, vanishing as they flew through the air.

She grinned and laughed on the outside, putting up a good show for her cub. On the inside, she saw that shimmer of sparks and that endless energy and just thought, 'I really need to sleep.'

The curse of a small child it seemed, she thought with wry humor.

"Hmph! You could never hope to win against me! I haven't even shown you my true power!" She roared back, drama dripping in her voice like thick, ridiculous sap running down a tree. Her dragon's head raised on high, as high as it could go, while looking down incredibly proudly and pompously at Pounce. The dragon could never lose! The dragon was the king of beasts, not this...this pup!

She was tired, so incredibly tired, but....she still should try, just try for them.

Her legs shook as she tried to coax just a little more magic, maybe just a little, just for showmanship, but nothing came, nothing at all. Just trying made her vision go black for a second.

But that didn't mean Pounce had to know. "Surrender while you have the chance! Even to see my true power would send you back the shell you woke up from!"

As the dragon roared its proud his sparks grew sparse, he was getting ready. This was it, the final round. He was going to end this dragon once and for all! It didn't turn back, it only boasted about its strength! After he had given it a moment of mercy! To run with its long ethereal tail between its legs! This wasn't just fun and games! This was personal!

Inhaling deeply he readied himself and took off like the very bolt of energy he was! He had no time to zig-zag! He was going straight for the win! He would show that dragon! A quick tackle to the ground after he had previously 'damaged' his soft underbelly! All he had to do was make contact and not fall a few inches short!

It seemed as luck was on his side! Gathering just enough momentum he managed to leap into the air and tackle the mighty beast! Unleashing a mighty roar as soon as contact was made! Rolling to the floor as he landed, laying low to see what outcome the battle had in store for them.

She smiled, ready for it, letting her legs go slack when her cub pounced at her, breaking her already unraveling light spell. They tumbled to the ground together, and she held on tight to Pounce, laughter bubbling from them both.

As they rolled to a stop, she let her head flop onto the ground, smiling wearily at her cub, affection showing in her already heavy eye. "Oh Pounce," She laughed. "My hero."

"You've taken down the dragon and saved the queen, my love. My congratulations." She yawned. "We've earned a celebratory nap, I think."

"We can....have..." Her words started to drift off, and her eye was already shut tight. "Ad....ventures....tomor...."

And with that, she was already deeply asleep, one long leg draped over her cub. Her slow breathing cast a gentle rhythm.

"This is how I speak."

She had grabbed hold of him as soon as the dragon dissipated! He had won! And there before him was his ethereal being! Laughter bubbled up from the both of them as they rolled to a stop. She smiled sweetly at him, her eyes heavy. He could she she was tired, and with a yawn of excitement he found that he was too.

Though the battle and after he found that he was her hero. As a reward he had earned a celebratory nap! Before he could eagerly respond, she had began to drift off. Her words half formed as she fell asleep. Eyes already shut before the final syllables came from her mouth.

A yawn erupted from the young cub and he nuzzled close to the exhausted doe. Shutting his eyes he murmured a sleepy 'goodnight' before drifting off to the patter of her heartbeat. In his dreams he would face another dragon! Through trial and battle he would win and save her yet again! All just in time before waking up.
