ORIGIN - never too young

upon instant release, the eaglet sprang backward, falling upon his rump before standing back up, wings unfurling as the wave of heat came blasting into his face. he shied away, hopping backward as he flapped his wings. creamed, baby feathers floofing about as he did so.
"oh you poor nasty thing,"
he grumbled, standing upright again as pride overtook his posture.
"a simple miscalculation in my execution, a lesson learned. are you learning anything?"
or are you allowing rage to overcome you.
he smiled a sinister grin, wings fidgeting about once again as he then decided to try something a little different. he summoned more magic, standing at the distance he was at from the dismantled wolf pup, attempting to cast his spell. he focused upon the wolf pup, executing the internal control spell, hoping to slow the wolf pup's heart down to dangerous levels - perhaps to tire her? perhaps to slow her? whichever, all of it, it didn't matter. the mere fact that he was successful and practicing his combat and magic skills was enough for the eaglet.

Though she was back upon her feet, so too was Ambrus Mildly disconcerted with having his life hanging in her jaws and even less so when a blast of heat hit him in the face, he was quick to return to that prideful stance that Aleera’s current state of mind did nothing but fan her flames. He remarked upon her appearance again followed by his accepting of his miscalculation when dealing with her. It was simply to bad her jaws were not strong enough yet to deliver the blow it would take to end this annoying birds life, otherwise this little spat would have been ended. Or perhaps it the reason he still breathed was because deep down, despite her rage and hatred, maybe she couldn’t bring herself to snuff out his life so easily. The truth lay buried deep within herself, obscured by a haze of hasty emotion. She knew what she wanted in the moment, but in the background, knew it wasn’t what she really wanted. Ambrus asked if she was learning anything yet and all that escaped the pup was a sinister growl, half blinded eyes narrowed upon the creature as she stared him down. No longer would she, or could she, humor his remarks with her own.

Then, almost as soon as his discharge released her fully and the numbness began to fade, her limbs suddenly felt drained of all strength and her breath came in short spurts. Lightheadedness suddenly came upon her like a wave that crashed against the stone and no longer could the pup remain upon her feet. Aleera slumped to the ground, her snarl replaced with dry heaves for air, half blinded eyes straining as double vision set in. Was this the birds doing? Or was this the draw back to using to much of her own magic at once? Perhaps this was a mixture of both but like so many other truths in this interaction the ebony wolf would be left only to wonder if only for a short time. Drained from her own magic and now the use of something so otherworldly by the bird, it did not take long at all for her burning rage to be smothered by the darkness that was unconsciousness. “Sleep, our Queen.“ Aleera’s body slumped to the ground, her snarling ceased. In this moment only did she seem peaceful. A peace attained by near death.

the eaglet's lovely houseguest then fell to the ground in a dismantled heap. he was unsure whether his spell was that effective, or if she merely exhausted herself. either way, upon the bird's beak spread a large, sinister smile. his flightless wings furled into him coldly, smugly, as he hopped toward the now sleeping wolf pup. he observed her, taking into account everything about the little beast that the bird had been mocking this entire time. he circled about her slowly, careful not to touch her nor make further remarks out loud.

having finished his round about, he began to hop back deeper into the canis portion of the cave, deep into bonebound territory. he was satisfied, though he'd almost lost his head. he'd just tuck that away, learn from it and move on. besides, when his wings were finally of some use to him, the growing eagle chick would then be a force to be reckoned with. the wicked grin remained as he hopped along, not even giving the wolf pup a second glance.
