KRAKARAK
"my precious"

A small purple chrysalis lay nestled between two bits of shiny armor. The smooth egg-like thing was still save for the life that stirred inside but one wouldn't be able to see that unless they paid extra close attention. The creature within was maturing and could no longer stand to be within the shell or rather the shell was no longer strong enough to contain it. A few shudders that started out as barely noticeable wracked the purple chrysalis. The shudders grew more intense until finally with one last shake it broke and revealed the body of a small black bird. Even now in its youth it was easy to see that the beak would one day grow strong as would the the talons but for now it was tiny and weak and defenseless as it sat there, shaking off the goo from the chrysalis.

After it properly dried the creature hopped out of the shell of the chrysalis, using its tiny wings as balance, and over to an object of interest. This object just happened to be a broken piece of a sword. It was shiny and reflective and immediately had him oggling over it. His head tilted back and forth as he examined the sword first but then he looked past it and saw his own reflection. Of course, the little creature didn't know this and he puffed up his tiny feathers in an attempt to intimidate the new creature. To his surprise the other bird puffed up at him too. He hopped backwards, afraid that it would attack him but again the mirror-bird mimicked him. His head tilted to the side and so did the mirror bird's.

Now he understood.

The mirror-bird was him! He was this thing. He hopped back towards the sword and stared at himself, pleased at what he saw. He was a pretty bird. Pleased, he opened his beak and a sound came forth. "Rak rak rak!" The noise startled him at first but with how his throat felt tingly he knew it was his own noise. He liked his own noise. "RAK RAK RAK!" He cawed louder. It pleased him even more and he jumped up and down happily, cawing and crowing even more loudly.

Thinking looks like this...
ooc: accidentally deleted this. ughhh.

already something of a bully, the wolverine had bulldozed her way free of her chrysalis. and proudly, and wildly, seemed to scamper free from her little prison. excited to be loose in the world, she'd found her bearings and began to explore. she heard someone else being freed from their chrysalis, and decided to seek them out. she heard their voice, and couldn't help but echo it back, making her first attempt at speech. "raakkk." she'd bark, already a sound that was demanding. interested by the inky, feathered thing, she was struck with a mischievous idea. her eyes seemed to dance, eager to take part in some not-so-nice fun. attempting to be quiet, and attempting to be quick, she'd attempt to pounce on the feathered little fiend.
KRAKARAK
"my precious"

The little bird had still been staring at his reflection, unable to pull himself away from how pretty he looked. That was until he heard another creature echo his own sound. "Rak!" He answered back enthusiastically. The creature he saw was unlike itself, it was furrier and larger and had strange pointed things in its head. He probably should have been afraid but he was too new and too fascinated by this new thing. Up until this point the only creature that he'd seen had been his own reflection so this new living thing was interesting. So interesting that he stayed standing in the same spot right until the other sailed straight at him.

Why was she coming at him? Well, it couldn't be a bad reason if she had such a strangely pleasant expression on her face. Still, he didn't want to be hit by the thing so he fluttered his wings and jumped into the air. Lifting briefly into the air to allow the dark creature to land below him before he alighted on its head. Perhaps the other had been trying to greet him? They were of the same color and it was larger so maybe it was a protector! That could be the only reason she was here so soon after his hatching! She was a protector and a friend and he liked her! The thought excited the baby gembound and he bounced up and down excitedly on the wolverine's head, looking down into her eyes he exclaimed, "Krakarak!" His own mouth turned up into smile as he looked into her face. She had a pretty face and he liked that she was his friend and protector.

You know what else he liked? The sound "Krakarak". He liked it even better than just "Rak". It was a special sound and for some reason he felt like it was his special sound. Hey... Did this one have a special sound too? His protector had to have a special sound too! "Krooooo." He tried to put his thoughts into words but they came out in the same cawing sound as before. That certainly wasn't right. "Koooouuuunnnnddd..." Closer but that still wasn't right. The "s" noise in his head was hard to vocalize. He frowned and tried once more, "Sooooouuuuuuunnnnnndddd...." That was better. Now what was the rest?

"Talking looks like this."
Thinking looks like this...
he evaded her, or she missed. there was already pride finding it's way in her heart and so she settled on the idea that he was sly. she liked that.

she liked that he was too smart for her tricksy jumps. clever. she needed clever, she decided.

he perched on her head and she'd looked up at him from between his pudgy little talons, not so amused now that he was dancing with delight on her head.

"Krak!" she'd parrot this, and it was done in the form of a croon, half-yowl from the feline-like stretch of her mouth. it seemed as though the wolverine's mouth seemed a better fit for the syllables, and they relished the way they'd been lifted from her tongue. her tongue rested against the roof of her mouth, drawn back as she'd hum. nonsense seemed to boil up, nothing intelligible: a chant, a hum. A tune, all her own. It soon skipped, as she'd plopped down to sit on her rear. her forelimbs rested at her sides in a position that not at all seemed strange for her body to take on.

trying these sounds again, the one stirring in her head seemed to come to life. she saw it, what she'd wished to say. her paw lifted, resting on the hardened stone resting on her chest. this is me. "Geeeeeeeera." it was satisfactory, for the first try, but she'd frown knowing it was not complete. not to be outdone by this feathery ink, she'd try again. her mouth exaggerated itself, hoping this would articulate better. "Geiraaaah. Geiraaavoh. Geiravoooor!" there. glee immediately swam across her face as the sound collected in it's proper way. that was her, this was her label. her name. her Krakorak.

her sound.

She spoke his name. From her mouth it sounded strange, different. Not hard and rough but more smooth, elegant. It was nice in it's own right but he rather liked the hard sounds that came from his own mouth. In fact... "Krakarak!" He cawed out again for no reason at all other than the satisfaction at hearing his own voice.

The black bird hung on tightly --but not too tightly as to hurt the other- while this larger creature laid down on the ground. His eyes locked back onto the dark eyes of the other, head tilting to the side. Well, what was her sound? Was it that rhythmic hum that started to come from her throat. He almost succeeded... only his hum had a scratchy croak to it, a testament that not all birds could sing. Was that her sound? No.... It couldn't be. There were no words too it. Still, he liked the humming noise if only for the fact that noise could be made without saying anything.

Now the larger one did something else. One paw lifted to her chest, though with his position it was difficult to see what she was gesturing to. He could only assume that she meant herself. A few more sounds came from her maw, these carrying the tone of words. These sounds were hers. Krakarak cawed excitedly before fluttering his wings and gliding very clumsily to the ground in front of Geiravor. He peered up at her, a smile on his face. "Geira! Geira! Geiravor!" He cawed aloud, the sound much more harsh and less melodic than the female's sounds. He liked her sound for that reason though... It could be made into a harsh noise.

Now his head tilted to the side once more as he narrowed an eye and lifted a talon to point at Geira's chest. "Shiiiiiny. Preeeetty! Gem!" The words came to him easily as he stared at her gem. He liked it! He wanted it! How could he get it? Or could he get it? It seemed to be embedded in her chest...
