Firenze's ears fell back against his head when the jaguar turned to him with tear-filled eyes. What-what was he supposed to do? Comfort them? How?? And then a stream of broken words and sobs erupted from them, and Firenze almost shrunk slowly, bit by bit, against the wet ground. What was going on? He didn't understand what they were saying! Something about a clover going missing, and the jaguar missed them? What?
But then, as he listened, it made sense. He pieced it together. The kid missed their Leon. His Leon was taken away. That, he could understand. If someone took Leon from him, he'd get mad and sad too. Probably more mad, though. His body language relaxed, and he moved towards the kid hesitantly.
With a unsure paw, he gave the crying jaguar a loose hug. "I'm sorry you miss her. I have a dad, a big great, amazing bear dad, and I would be really upset if they were kidnapped too. Especially if I couldn't do anything about it."
Releasing the kid from the hug, he then got an idea, and he got really excited about it! He broke out in a wide, laughing grin and said, "Hey, maybe I could help you rescue her! Haha! A coyote and a jaguar? Yeah, we'd beat that stag with our paws tied behind our backs!"
"We'd have to get tougher and bigger though...but we could rescue her! What do ya say?"
He wondered if Leon would approve of him, be proud of him. He hoped so!
