ORIGIN - Alone, Lost and Scared!

The egg that the creature was being held in was starting to finally hatch. Cracks was covering the entire area, getting ready to burst open any moment, and when it finally appeared was........was.....A........wolf. Just an ordinary wolf. Her eyes slowly opened, and vision was coming to her for the first time. She looked around slowly, as she did, her ears were flat, her tail was lowered in between her legs. She held herself in a very submissive position. Where was she, what was this place? She took a step forward softly. Taking in her surroundings as she did. She was surrounded by plants, there were plants everywhere of all shape and sizes. She lowered her head a little as she looked around.

"H-hello? A.......an..........any........anyone there?"

She continued to look around as she took another step slowly. She was alone in a strange place, she was lonely, nobody to be seen and she was scared. She didn't like this feeling of lonesomeness. She felt saddened because of it. She continued to look around, her body was still held in a submissive position.

A kitten sat nearby, watching the wolf pup hatch, always watching. She had become cold and reserved as of late-- the only thing that alerted one to her presence was the constant hum of a purr in her chest. Soft and faint, like a single small bee was trapped in her throat.

As the canine called out, she rose to her paws, pale yellow eyes searching the wolf's figure for something more.

"Hello there, little one."

The cat was smaller than the pup, with curly grey fur, but she held herself high and certainly more confidently than the newborn. Her magic swelled and her teeth flashed as she spoke, and slowly, her fur began to glow with the same pale yellowish light of her eyes.

"I'm here, my name is Dovefeather. Welcome."

Asurai looked about slowly and turned to the cat. She kept her position even if the cat was smaller than her. She listened to her words softly and gave a soft nod to her.

"H-hello Dovefeather. My name is Asurai."

She looked about slowly and then softly sat herself down. She took a deep breath and sighed softly. She didn't think much of herself. She was just a wolf. So small and fragile. What could she do? Anything could happen to her.

"Ah, hm, Asurai... I See."

The kitten flicked her tail (or rather, what was left of it, after having succumbing to frostbite), blinking flatly at the wolf. It seemed like she was out of luck, lifting a paw and licking it passively.

"... I don't suppose you're interested in hearing the words of the All Mother, or... I guess... Hungry? I'm not the best hunter, but..."

She wondered just what was in store for the wolf before her. Ever since the All Mother's Eyes had clouded up, she felt she had lost her way-- perhaps this pup could help her find her path again.

Yes, she was a crazy cult cat. Good luck, Asurai.

Asurai listened to the cat, and her head tilted softly. What did she mean? She wasn't all too sure to be honest. Who was the All Mother? She looked around for a moment before looking back to the cat.

"Who is the all mother?"

She looked about and lowered her head a little. She was new to this place, and even now she found this place extremely strange, but so beautiful. She loved it so much. The place had so much life.

"The All Mother is a being who transcends us. She is more powerful than you can imagine. There are signs of her all around us, namely in the plants and fungi, in the call of birds. She is wise, and guides our paths where she can."

"She Sees All, Asurai."

"She knows secrets and truths that I Seek, and perhaps, one day, will understand in my own way."

The kitten ran her licked paw over an ear as she spoke, her purring that ever soft noise under her voice. Her pale eyes wandered through the trees, to where she knew the massive mushroom rested.

"I can show you Her, if you wish. I would take you to Her Eyes, but she has become closed off from my Sisters as of late. It makes things difficult, but I can show you what I can of her presence even though she is severed from us."

She rose to her white paws turned near black in the moist, soft soil of the cavern. The cat did not look back at the pup, though she did crane an ear in the young one's direction, as if waiting for an answer.

This whole "caring" thing was way too exhaustive. It watched the kitten from abov, the one Booker kept reminding him was Dove. Are you sure she's okay? She was real nice, tightrope walking on thin tree branches like he'd seen Diot do. Watching the cat almost made him miss whatever memories he must've had of her. She seemed... honestly kind. The type of kindness that didn't ask for anything in return - no responsibility, no defending, no ignoring bodies? Wow, Books, you in a mood today? A mood. Sure. Considering you're flouncing about with my bod- hey now! I could just let us drop, right now.

The scribe shut up pretty fast after that, and It snickered, returning to his self-imposed duty. Absently, he scratched at the back of his head, paw coming away red. An eye roll, and he absently licked the blood away, whiskers twitching. Honestly. Why'd ya haveta bond to a dragon? 'specially one like him.

You had to know he'd eventually go and die, didn't you?

No answer, which suited him just fine. Maybe the pest had finally fallen asleep. Eyes narrowed, It watched from above, tail twitching, ears cupped forward to catch the words spoken between the newborn wolf and the cat. What's with the All-Mother thing, anyway? I never got that, really. If she's so powerful, well, I s'pose I wouldn't be here, would I?

Nothing but silence. It outright cackled, muffling the sound behind dirtied paws, taking a moment to himself before returning to his stalking. Caring stalking, of course. Who's the all mother? "She-" It cut off the sound with a furious squeak, clamping his jaws shut, snarling silently.

Stop it! Just go to sleep! You don't have any reason to be up anymore. Just shut up for five minutes! I'm giving you a gift here, kid. How long has it been since you didn't have to care 'bout anything? Just relax. Let me take care of everything. There's nothin' left for you here.

The presence quieted once again, cold and empty of any reason to continue the fight, and It snuffled, giving up on his pretense of hiding, clambering down to a lower branch and leaning over it to chatter at the pair, grinning. "You goin' ta visit the Mother, Dove? I'd be glad ta accomp'ny you and the kiddo."

Asurai listened to the cat and when the cat finished talking, another creature came to join them. She turned to the strange creature and slowly lowered her head as she looked to the cat once more.

"No.......I.........I'm probably not worth her time. She has more important things to do. I..........I shouldn't even be wasting your time. I am sorry. It is my fault."

She looked around a little, and sat herself down with a soft sigh. Even now, she had no self confidence in herself.

For a moment, the kitten held back, a paw raised and her ear twitching.

"It is my duty to Show who wishes to See."

She craned her head back to the wolf, her pale eyes round discs, pupils contracted to slits. Her jaws parted once more, lips pulled back to reveal her top row of teeth. The sharp implements were almost transparent, pearly in quality, so vastly different from the opaque ivory of her bottom incisors.

"Nothing is more important than this. Do you wish to See, or not?"

As she spoke, a delicate light seemed to shift through her teeth, but more dramatically, a glow started to pick up around the wolf. Abruptly, there were lights dancing around her, lighting up Asurai's small frame, picking up just the right way to highlight her features.

"... And regardless of whether or not you think so, you are going to be quite important one day, child. Only the most conceited look at their reflection and see only that which they love. We all criticize and doubt ourselves at times, but this is why we must push forward and seek to become better,"

The kitten looked off and began to walk out of the small clearing, heading towards what she wanted to show the newborn wolf. It seemed as though she didn't care much either way if the pup followed her, though her words held more meaning than her behavior did.

"... So that one day we will be able to love ourselves."

It hung from the branch upside-down, tail wrapping around it, swinging jovially as he watched the little drama unfold. His vision caught on Dove when she spoke, eye glinting at the sight of her fangs. Shiny. Can we take 'em? Booker snarled softly in the back of his mind, and It snickered, not much caring how unstable it made him seem.

Aw, relax, Books. I have a special prize in mind. The scribe stayed silent, apparently thinking the same - the only face that had remained clearly visible in their consciousness, one etched by cruelty and hatred. A nice chunk of white gem. Maybe we could hang it over the burrow, hm? A little reminder. The scribe muffled a choked, guilty chuckle, obviously trying not to agree but failing miserably.

Lights began to appear near the wolf pup, and It's eye widened, stuck on the dancing orbs, mouth dropping open in childish wonder. The kitten's words made him flinch back just a bit, muzzle scrunching up in annoyance.

Only the most conceited look at their reflection and see only that which they love. We all criticize and doubt ourselves at times, but this is why we must push forward and seek to become better.

Yeah, sure. Or you end up emotionally crippled for all eternity. Booker huffed in agreement, curling up into a ball in his corner, fading back for the moment.

...so that one day we will be able to love ourselves.

And just like that, Booker was gone entirely, silent and still, practically becoming part of the mind space's walls, leaving It alone to blink, unsure of whether to be insulted or just sad. Stuck and wary of falling, the numbat flipped back up to sit on his branch, jumping from limb to limb, tree to tree, to keep up with the strange duo.
