but inside the beast still grows
waiting, chewing through the ropes
Kerberos had no clue that Polaris had been on fire, aside from the smell of burning, he had missed that whole entire event and was probably a much happier dog for it. When he was a pup, he had tried to hunt the lizards that roamed Polaris-- small, zappy creatures that he figured tasted fairly good. He had never had the chance to eat one, however, because the water had snatched his prize from him and nearly froze his tail off.
Still, the hound was sure he could find them now, and since his magic was a lot more controlled now, he was sure he would be able to find and eat a plenty pawful of them... If he could catch them. Snorting, the mammoth three-headed hound of hell looked around, sniffing around the broken crags and cracks of the shattered landscape. Since the battle of Polaris, the terrain had changed wildly. He wondered, halfheartedly, if the Alpha, Arkrael, had been here and done all of this destruction. He wondered if one gembound could even do all of this-- probably not. There was scorch marks, too, ashes and blood burned into the stone.
It should have perhaps left him worried, but the now fully grown dog seemed too intent on his hunt to care. In fact, the only thing that could distract him from his hunt was the presence of another gembound. He caught the scent of something much bigger than a cave lizard-- a wolf. Not Arkrael, but he knew enough dogs to know when another dog was around.
