It's in private just in case that's how Alm wants it. Ask her if you're interested in joining.
For as long as she could remember the soft drumming of a similar heartbeat to her own had strummed soothingly next to her. Lulling her into a peaceful world of dreams of things that her mind chose to create. Yet now something felt different. Her own heartbeat had grown stronger, louder than the other. It stirred her from her slumber as a strange sensation of panic began to arise within her chest. The sensation put her at unease and she began to move, her legs attempting to stretch against the confines of the chrysalis that had seemed to shrink around her. Desperately she tried to listen for the other heart beat, the one that strummed nigh exactly as her own, but she just could not hear it over her own frantically beating heart. She struggled even more, tossing and kicking, trying to move around in the space she had outgrown. Before she knew it a sharp crack echoed loudly in her chrysalis chamber.
The chrysalis shattered, spilling out its contents as the young hybrid tumbled onto the ground covered in goop and surrounded by the sharp shards of her now shattered chrysalis. Not a word or sound was made from her as she lay there frozen, ears errect and listening. A sharp intake of air rushed into her lungs as her head began to tingle, the small turquoise nubs on her cheeks suddenly gave a bright flash and within moments, not just one, but many heartbeats she could feel. The little cub heaved for breathe as she was quickly overwhelmed by all the sensations. Though, it wasn't long before a more familiar one was heard. Strumming loud and soothingly and the hybrid peeled her stunning blue eyes open and looked towards it.
A gem sat against the remains of a shattered chrysalis and the cub knew it, not because she had seen it before, but because she had heard it since she could remember. She struggled to move closer, tiny claws gripping at the ground to help drag her along and before she knew it she was tucked and curled up against the multicolored chrysalis. A soft purring began in her chest as her eyelids fluttered shut. All the other heart beats she had felt were washed away by this single heartbeat. Her sister. She was still here and for a moment the little hybrid did nothing but remain there listening to her heartbeat.
