Weeks. Weeks had gone by and still all he knew was darkness. Within that darkness sat a fear that continued to pull at every corner of his heart and kept him within that which he feared: the shadows. They had taken him from the moment he had burst into existence. Their hold was tight, the grip like nothing he had felt before. Even before the shadows had taken him where he had been before seemed better under comparison. Before he felt safe, he felt comfort, he felt warmth. But that warmth had suddenly become too hot, something went wrong. His mind, even weeks later, was still reeling from the sudden rupture of heat and sound. The latter he had no experience with; the thunderous roar that bounded against the walls of his safety had torn him from the only thing he knew: a gentle slumber.
It didn't last, and oh how he wished it had. The thunderous roar, one which he couldn't explain to anyone who ever asked, had shaken him from the very core. His sleep was no more, and the thunder continued. His walls of safety began to shake and rattle and it had only been at that moment that he had become aware of himself and his own being. And yet, the pain. The pain of being ripped from such peace instantly brought the first feeling of fear he would ever experience. It never went away, it gripped him from that moment and that was all he knew. The walls around him continued to shake, the beastly sound never stopped, and within moments he felt a pain that he wished he could erase from his mind.
He felt the impact before he heard the shatter. His crysalis, having been nestled neatly against a wall upon a small cliff within the caves of Orion, had been jostled loose by the great earthquake, of which he knew nothing of, and it crashed to the ground. The bits of shattered crystal surrounded his small body and all he wanted to do was move but that beast was still roaring, the walls were still shaking, and he had suddenly been thrust into a world he didn't understand.
That had been weeks ago, and even after that time he couldn't bring himself from the very shadows that he feared. Their grip was relentless, but it was the only thing he knew: fear and darkness. The small raccoon lay curled up in a corner of the caves of Orion, still shaking, even weeks after his abrupt birth.
(wow this is really bad. but I haven't written anything like this in quite a while. i promise my posts will get better. D:)
