Unsteady steps carried a very young dreamer through the tunnels, taking in all the sights and trying to understand all that she was seeing. The world outside of her stone shell wasn't as dark and scary as she thought it would be, but full of so much more to see! Little trunk reached out to touch the wall, following down a winding path til she came to the opening of a larger room. ". . . so big." Looking up to the ceiling, it was so far up there! And not only was this room big, but it was filled with so many things too!

Little legs moved quickly, trying to get a better look at the things around her but making sure not to trip or bump into anything along her way. The tapir would peak around rocks, listen to the rushing of the water fall and took notice of something in the distance. Was it a gembound or something else? She caustically made her way closer.

OOC: where the tunnel runners and antelope play . . .

Derby had been around for a few days now, and so far... he was blending in pretty well with the mass of various cave deer roaming in Polaris, some corralled in pens. He didn't quite know what it meant yet, but he always stayed near the pens and inside them. They made the tiny ungulate feel safe, especially amongst his own 'kind'. Chocolate-colored hooves clicking on the cerulean stone, the small deer wriggled out from between the fencing and skittered away. Kenny loved to explore things, and there was something in particular that he was interested. Something... moving!

Why, he was so excited, he might just pee himself.

So he bounded over in great and excited strides, braying excitedly. Once he came close enough, not knowing personal space, Derby squealed in delight as he stopped before the tapir, hooves skidding on the cool stone. She was a pretty one! Maybe the cowboy would like her. Tossing his head towards the herd, he brayed again. Surely she understood him! Maybe she could be part of the herd, too!

Many blinks were given as the small thing came closer to her, bracing herself for impact if they did end up crashing into the little one but nope. They stopped rather well in front of the little Pene. Titled her head a bit, little trunk-like nose lifted up to sniff in the direction of Derby but her suspicion to be afraid of them was washed away when they hoped all around. Seeming to play.

Penelope let out a high pitched squeak, trying to mimic the smaller deer as he bounced about. The sound even surprised herself, freezing to take in what she just did and did it once again. It was even more natural then saying a word. And far more fun! With a little skip in her step, the tapir baby circled around the other, her trunk-nose lifted in the air. This is fun.

Boy, it was a good thing that there was no poisoner (Vazi, I'm looking at you) in the midst, because from a distance, this meeting had to be the most adorable thing ever. When the tapir gave a little sound back, Derby squealed in delight and hopped on his toes. What a cute and playful boy, he was! The musk deer bounced once again, bowing his head to the nose-thing, ears swivelled forth and perked. If he had a tail, it'd be waggling harder than a overstimulated dog's.

Derby raised his little hooves and stamped them on the floor in glee, and scampered off a ways toward the herd. He meant to beckon her to follow by tossing his head to the side, and he bounded away a couple more feet. Hopefully the cowboy was here and would let the nose-thing into the herd! Oh, how great that would be!

As the other seem to react positively to her silly squeal, it resulted in the young tapir to burst into a little trout around them; literary running circles around the small "tunnel runner". This is fun! Pene let out another happy cry before bounding after the other when they ran in the other direction. She wondered where they were headed anyway, but that didn't matter to the little one. She was having to much fun. A skip was in her step, carrying her after the other but she wasn't as fast.
