ORIGIN - Event: Eridanus Gobble Gobble

Upon entering Eridanus, one might hear a strange sound. Several shifting feet and... gobbling? Yes, surely it is! Closer inspection reveals a small group of TURKEYS!? Five of these birds stand in a group, their dull green feathers blending mostly into the room with the exception of their blue, gemmy crops. If you listen closely, you might be able to hear what they're saying... Of course, they would also provide a easy and hearty meal for you...

Note: You may choose to harm or not harm the turkeys.

Ok, I'm not mod status, though this was approved by Madster. I'll be checking on these, but you can tag me instead of reporting it to the GM since that's not me! I've been told there will be achievement rewards. <3

TENNESSEE

"Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam,
Where the deer and the antelope play"

It had been a hectic few weeks, busy and tiring but well worth the effort. He and Cayenne had finally gotten a herd of deer and what was more he was finally learning how to ride without getting bucked off every couple of minutes. It was a combination of food and sheer effort that he was even able to do it. That and the vine lasso which he had tied around the deer's mouth and horns in a sort of makeshift halter to give him some control. The creature still fought him every couple of feet but it was getting easier to wrestle back the control. It would also try to side-step and buck but with some careful taps of his rear paws he was able to remedy that as well. So, it wasn't exactly fast going to Eridanus but it was quicker than it had been before.

With Daisy at his side he was able to even keep the deer going in a straight line and right into the forested area. In the distance he could hear something making strange noises. Daisy's ears pricked and she started to paw at the ground, obviously eager to rush forward and see what the commotion was about. The cave deer underneath him grunted and pinned its ears at the sound while it tried to shy away. However, with a careful kick of his right foot and a tug at the lasso he was able to get it to turn back around and keep going.

After a few moments of careful walking forward they happened upon a herd of very strange beasts. The lemur scratched at the fur on his head while Daisy started making eager noises next to him. Gee, they must have been something interesting if they had the Red Rats attention so readily. Perhaps this could be some new creatures for them to take back to the ranch. Those feathers looked especially useful for making pens and other things. Hmm, he wondered where Cayenne was... She was the smart one of the outfit, always coming up with great plans while he was just good at executing them with his reckless bravery.

Cayenne had been going on another seed run for their home in Polaris, going through her path like usual. She was excited that she was actually making a path now, with how often she traveled down it, the grass wearing away with all her constant trips. She had been pulling iceberries along with their leaves to put in her satchel when she heard a sound behind her.

Frowning, she turned, and what greeted her, looking up close to her face, was the strangest lesser gembound she'd ever seen. A small wrinkly bird face stared at her blankly, bobbing its head every now and again, its wattle wobbling as it did so. Looking it over, she did notice that its feathers were very pretty - she wouldn't mind having one, or perhaps stealing one to give to Dovefeather.

Looking around the area, she noticed more of them walking around, their feather easily merging with the green foliage of the jungle. How she managed to walk into their little herd without noticing them at all, she had no idea.

She petted the one right in front of her and said, "Sneaky bird," almost absently, and walked into what she knew to be a clearer area, peeking spots of brown fur giving her a hint that someone else was here.

"Tenn?" She asked, coming out from her path right next to Daisy, seeing their herd of cave deer. She quickly spotted him atop his stag and waved at him. "Tenn, what are these birds? Have you seen them before?"

The turkeys roamed around in a loose group. The lemur wandered through and the birds looked at her, their heads perking and tilting to investigate the being. they decided her not a threat and when she noticed them, she reached out. The bird ducked, tensing, but then the lemur pet the bird. It gobbled softly, then decided to follow her. The rest of the turkeys followed suit, gobbling nervously. They came upon the cave deer and stood behind Cayenne some ways, not seeing the creature atop the deer. Words were spoken, but not understood by the birds, who kept to themselves.

TENNESSEE

It didn't take long before his partner showed up. His crafty friend was weaving her way through the turkeys as if she belonged! How incredible! Cayenne never ceased to amaze him with her talents. What was more the turkeys didn't just allow her to wade among them, they even started to follow her! Here he was trying to be sneaky and Cayenne had already beat him to the punch with earning their trust. Seemed as if they would have some new ranch animals before long. "Howdy there!" He removed his hat and gave a slight bow, until Buckthorn started to get restless and he quickly had to grab the reigns and get him under control.

"I ain't never seen'en afore but don't ya think they'd be a nice addition t'the ranch? Look at them feathers! Oh! 'An don't look now but I think they're rather attached to ya!" The red lemur started to laugh as he pointed to the bird herd behind her.

She listened to Tenn in confusion, then she turned around and startled, seeing all five of them right behind her, bobbing their heads curiously, taking tentative steps towards her - and in their mass and pure fluff, she felt swarmed. Why on earth were they cloying around her like this?

The one she had petted was right in front of her, twitching its head in a very bird-like way, and it made her laugh. "Sneaky bird," She said again, petting its head, which it seemed to like. "Do you want to follow me? Do you want to come home with us? We have this very nice home where the stones shiny pretty colors, with very nice grass to eat, and it would be very safe and nice."

She didn't know why, but she felt like they listened to her, their small eyes shining with a definitive light, and she spoke sweetly, as if to a newly awakened gem, her tone light and simple. "Would you all like to follow us?"

Though the turkeys heard the other voice, they simply drew closer to the dark lemur. When she turned around to pet the turkey's head, the others closed in, dipping their heads and stomping their large feet, all trying to get pet by the friendly girl. It may seem like they are surrounding her- and they are- though not aggressively. Their feathers remained slicked down and they coo softly as they push each other aside, begging for attention.

Tennessee gave a hoot of laughter and slapped his knee joyfully which almost sent his cave deer running but he quickly was able to avoid disaster by reigning it in. He watched with an amused grin as Cayenne patted her little turkeys and asked if they wanted to follow. "I say there's only one way 'a findin' out if'n they do! Come on, let's see if'n they'll go back t'Polaris with us!" With that he turned his deer around and began trying to lead the way back to their home. Daisy gave one rueful look at the turkeys before following Tenn and Buckthorn.

She laughed openly, feeling so....ridiculous, with this herd swarming her like fluffed up children all bobbing for her attentions, and she hugged one around the neck while petting another's feathers, feeling silly affection for them all. She thought she was a serious gem, normally, an adult, responsible, able to hold life and death in her weird hands, but at the moment none of that mattered but Tenn's easy affection and the complete hold of all these birds' attentions. Did she cast a spell on them by accident? she thought in amusement. Did it really matter? She really liked them.

Tenn urged Buckthorn on, and scritched under a third turkey's neck and said to them all in an enthusiastic whisper she'd use towards a young gem and said, "Do you all want to come home with us? We can lead you there. It'll be a lot of fun, I promise!"

She walked backwards, following Tenn, waving the turkeys to follow her with a calm, low voice.

This was completely ridiculous but she was enjoying this immensely. It was like being followed by a sudden swarm of puppies, even if she barely knew what they were.

The birds continued to wrestle for the lemur's affections, occasionally stomping on another's foot or pecking at one of the ones that was getting too much attention. When Cayenne would turn away, the turkeys would gobble questioningly, one reaching out to peck at her hand, perhaps painfully, though they didn't mean it. She would say more words and start to walk away and the birds would hesitate, then follow her rapidly, almost running over her in the process. They waited for her lead and would follow her as long as she gave them affections, though she might want to watch out around feeding time.
