listen to me + hear my thoughts

Absolution was at hand. Eve was the absolute perfect mother. Yeah, sure, Aza'zel sang adorable songs to her-- but Eve lit up her treasures and even wanted to play games with her! She also didn't tear skulls out of gembounds, greater or lesser.

... maybe someones being a bit too harsh on Aza here but seriously dude.

Ash flapped her wings eagerly to try and answer her newly found and dearly loved momma birb.

"GAME GAME GAME!" The echoing voice screeched back, too high a pitch, too awkwardly repeated-- but the joy on her face was as clear as day... At least in any cave that wasn't mist-covered Cetus.

Eve concentrated a little as her talon started to glow again, a small glowing orb appearing in the air. It shifted as the crow moved her gaze, lingering just above Ash's head.

"See if you can catch it," she said, glancing off with the orb of light following along.

Momma birb made a brilliant sphere of light out of thin air and Ash looked like she was on the edge of losing it. She bounced, frantically, after it as soon as Eve gave the go ahead, and she didn't look back. She charged after the look alike will-o-wisp in the fog, all of her previous worries washing away.

She was going to catch that orb, she was!

And as she flapped her wings, trying to lunge up into the air, all of the excitement got to her and her tired out magic. The wind in Cetus blasted over her, knocking her off balance, and she tumbled into the swamp muck, getting not only her feathers covered in filth, but her new prize too.

Perhaps she should have made it easier for Ash to catch the sphere. The crow watched the hybrid fall flat on her face and she hurriedly made her way over to the little creature, orb vanishing, and began to preen away at the mud as she had done so many times before with Oliver.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt?" she asked as she picked wet dirt away from her feathers.

Ordinarily, Ashtoreth might sob or cry or be a huge baby over having fallen so dramatically.

Thankfully, Eve came to the rescue fast enough that she couldn't even begin to cry if she wanted to. The motherly bird was already cleaning her up, and she couldn't help but smile and make a gentle, chuffing noise as though she was laughing.

The little mammal-bird put a paw on Eve's forehead and licked her new momma back, starting to wriggle like the noodle she was. She hadn't hurt herself, and over all she seemed rather fine, surprisingly.

Eve hadn't ever considered the possibility that, perhaps, one day she could be squished. In the scenario that she could be squished, she never would think it would come from a bundle of Wow that's a lot of noodle feathers like Ash was.

A single, muted squawk left her throat as she was squashed. She croaked a little in protest. "H-hey! I'm glad you're alright?!"

She tried to scramble back up to regard her, feathers somewhat flat.

Ash was pretty dang glad she was alright too! She backed off of the poor, squashed bird, and grabbed her now-muddy bunny carcass and hauled it back into place.

She started to look around for the glowing ball, but it seemed to have run off when she wasn't looking. Her eyes searched for something else to play with, and grabbed a mucky pebble with her paws in a single bounce, and then tried to cast it into the sky with a bit of magic.

The noodle stared at the rock, indignant, as her gifts seemed absolutely gone. She couldn't even summon a gentle ruffle of wind. She huffed and flicked the pebble into the nearby bog and sat upright, glancing back at Eve. Maybe she had a better idea.

Eve blinked for a moment, recollecting herself before she summoned another orb of light - smaller and somewhat dimmer this time - but existing nonetheless.

She chirped playfully, waving the orb around Ash's face for a moment.

Oh, the orb was back! The tiny child's mouth opened to let out two tiny squeaking sounds, her eyes lighting up in the gentle glow of the flickering orb.

The noodle jumped to her paws and tried to lunge and grab the orb, excitement flooding her small form as though she had never failed the first time.

And she leaped up, her eyes filling with delight as she snatched the glow with her paws and it lit up her fur in a beautiful array of oranges and browns. The moment was fleeting-- but she had caught that which couldn't be caught, flapping her wings to keep holding it just in her paws.

A joyous grin spread across her face, the wonder of childhood innocence absorbing the young gembound if only for a moment.

"Wow," the crow muttered to herself, eyes drifting downwards and the orb descending gently with her gaze. "Good job."

She spread her wings and took flight towards Ash, going to land on her head and gently preen the hybrid's feathers. "How do you feel?"
