Zevruu had been wandering around for a while. He wasn't sure what to do or where to go, so he just picked a direction and walked. He generally stayed in the same direction, only moving when he needed to. He walked for a while, not really stopping. After he had been walking for a long time, the nearly full-grown serval eventually stopped. He was tired, and his legs ached. He sat down, and began to look around. He gazed at the ceiling, covered with glimmering quartz crystals, and the walls covered with streaks of white quartz. He was just about to continue walking when a flash of movement caught his eye.

@Macawi

This is the best thread title i know

Orion was Macawi’s favorite place. She had been born here, and had come back here many times since then. The abandoned buildings, full of echoes and shadows and the feeling that they were not as empty as they seemed, drew her in like any good mystery. She found herself wandering the crumbling paths, sniffing curiously around every corner, and sometimes the fur on her nape would stand up to tell her that something was watching her. She didn’t know what or who – only that they were there, whatever they were… Of course, considering that the coyote was insane, it could be that absolutely nothing was watching her! But where was the fun in believing that?

Sometimes her instincts were right, though, and they proved themselves instantly when they were. The fur on her nape stood up, so she lifted her nose from the ground, and before her was a fairly large cat, though she was sure that they could get much bigger. This was certainly no tiger. She padded a bit closer to him before sitting down, shaking her head a little to straighten out the tassels of her headdress, and shifting to get her satchel to lie flat against her side. “Hello,” she said, tail wagging in greeting. “What brings This One to the glittering city of Orion?”

@Zevruu -- sorry this took like a week. I hate school so much...
Zevruu watched the coyote. He didn't dare go up to her, preferring to wait and see if she noticed him-if she ever did. After some time of watching her, she eventually saw him. He stared at her for a bit, shifting from paw to paw, unsure of what to do or say as the coyote walked up to him. She was tiny-perhaps about the same age as he. A tiny little coyote, with a pelt of tan and gray. She also had large ears, which seemed slightly out of place on her small head. She wore a headdress, and a satchel that lay against her side.

He stopped observing her when she spoke. He blinked before replying, “Just wandering through, I suppose. I was born here, and I’ve been here since.” He then began to lick one of his paws. The walk had left his fur slightly dusty, much to the serval’s distaste. He made sure his front paws were clean, and began to drag them over the top of his head, cleaning it. He watched the coyote warily, wondering what she would do as he groomed himself, making sure the top of his head was clean and sleek. He then began to clean his tail, still keeping an eye on the coyote.

@Macawi --It's fine cx

Macawi nodded at his words, and observed the cat as he began to clean himself, licking over and over again with that sandpaper tongue. She always thought it was funny, the way different Gembounds acted, well, differently from one another. Sure, she licked herself clean, too, but not nearly as intently as a cat did. Her tail wagged behind her at a fairly slow pace, content to sit and creepily watch this Gembound clean himself for however long it took. This coyote had no real social skills. Sure, she was friendly and all, but she had no idea that staring at someone was considered to be weird.

It was during this awkward staring fest that an idea came to her. She shifted out of her satchel, and let it fall to the floor. Then she nudged it so that the opening was facing the spotted cat. “If This One does not mind, Macawi would like to tell you your fortune. It is easy. All you must do is reach a paw into this bag and pull out the object that feels right. Do not be shy!” She grinned encouragingly at him, flashing a wink by twisting her head so that her gem caught the light. A rainbow lit up on the floor for a moment, and then disappeared.

@Zevruu -- you can either refuse Macawi's offer, or you can have him accept it. What you pull from her bag is up to you. It could be: a stone, a leaf, a feather, a flower, a bone, a small piece of jewelry, etc. But nothing too complicated. You may describe whatever you pull from the bag, and then Macawi will give Zev a fortune based on what it is. Like all fortune telling, it will probably be vague so that no matter what, it still fits. XD
When the serval was finished, and his pelt smooth and clean, he sat and watched as the coyote before him let her satchel drop to the floor. He flicked the tip of his tail lightly as the coyote nudged it so that the opening faced him. Inside, he could sort of see items, however he couldn't tell what the items specifically were.

After hearing her words, Zevruu looked a bit closer at the satchel. A flash of light caught his attention and he looked up, just barely managing to catch a glimpse of a rainbow. He flicked an ear, and then lay down in front of it. He stretched his paw out and into the bag, feeling the contents. Some items were smooth, some rough. Others felt soft or hard. He moved his paw around a bit more, trying to find something that, as the coyote had said, “feels right”. Eventually, he grabbed something and dragged it out.

The item was a stone. It was small, and very smooth, a round, oval shape. He ran his paw over it, feeling the slight ridges that were hardly noticeable. It felt cool under his paw. He looked up at the coyote, and nudged it slightly toward her. He wondered what this stone could ever tell about his fortune. It was simply that, a stone.

@Macawi

Macawi grinned when the serval lay down in front of her bag of goodies and began to feel around. So he had agreed! This was good! She had wanted to begin her fortune-telling business for some time, after all, and he was her first customer. She waited patiently as his paw rummaged around for a while, and then leaned forward a bit when he pulled something out. It was a stone, but he was holding it under his paw, so she couldn’t really look at it very well. She let him get a feel for it and then wagged her tail a little when he pushed it over to her.

She studied it with her eyes only, at first. It was smooth, and shaped like an egg. Nothing particularly special-looking. However, she knew that looks could be deceiving. She placed a paw on top of it and ran her paw-pad across its surface. It was smooth, but there were little ridges all over it, naked to the eye. She closed her eyes and continued to rub her paw across the stone, formulating a response in her mind…

“A stone…” she began, speaking aloud, but mostly to herself. “A stone represents the element of Earth. Strength, stubbornness, but also the ability to receive. The Earth is steady, tough, but also nurturing. It listens… The stone appears to be smooth, but when felt, one realizes there are ridges across its surface. This would suggest that when others look at you, they see only the barest glimmer of you really are. Gembounds are complex and full of surprises. Perhaps this stone is trying to tell you to be more open – to speak up a little more, to be less shy.”

Her fortune-telling done, Macawi took a breath, but kept her eyes closed, accessing her Magic. She felt the gem in her cheek begin to thrum with Energy, and it tingled its way down her paw and outward across the surface of the stone. When she opened her eyes, it was glowing fairly brightly. She grinned down at it, and then pushed it back towards the cat. “Here. You may keep this. Macawi never puts an item back into her bag. Once it has been used to tell a fortune, then the Gembound who took it out must keep it. Or, you may leave it here. Either way.”

@Zevruu
Zevruu watched as the coyote inspected the stone. He still didn't know what a stone could tell about his fortune, but he listened as the coyote began to speak. When she had finished, he flicked an ear. Be more open? The serval had been quiet and shy for as long as he could remember. How could he possibly just speak up a bit more?

He continued to watch as the coyote appeared to put a spell on it. He watched, quite fascinated, as it began to glow brightly. He had never really tried out his spell, and watching someone else do a spell was quite interesting. He looked at the stone as it was pushed toward him. He didn't really have anywhere to put it, but he also didn't want to leave it here. He figured he could just carry it in his mouth wherever he went. He contemplated saying something, perhaps a thank you, but decided against it. Zevruu didn't really like to speak, preferring to be quiet and speak with body movements. So he nodded lightly, as if saying thanks.

@Macawi --sorry it's late aha

Macawi grinned in amusement as the cat continued to be silent and shy. She shrugged, mostly to herself. Her fortune-telling was… well, no one had to take her advice, of course. And she didn’t even care if they did or not. It was just a fun little hobby. If it helped someone, that was great. If not, whatever. At least they got a new Shiny out of it, right? And it was fun for her, too. She noted that the cat seemed very shy, still, and not one to talk much, so there was really no point in staying any longer.

“It has been a pleasure reading This One’s fortune!” she said cheerily, tail wagging behind her. Macawi gave a bit of a bow, and then laughed at her own seriousness, and flicked her head to the side to flash her gem at the serval, splashing a rainbow across the floor for a moment. Without waiting for a reply, she turned and trotted away…
