Nemesis

Nemesis took a detour today. She knew that she had to return to her child soon, in fact, she wanted it instinctively more than she intentionally, thoughtfully knew-- but for now she had stopped to get a snack. A prize to bring home to her child, a gift. Perhaps the season was getting to her, but more likely, she just wanted some of the sweet moss herself.

More than that, Nemesis wanted to train. Since seeing Hasira in Orion, and learning of the dangers that faced her two adopted children as well as her own flesh and blood (magically speaking) back home, a fury filled her blood.

Just thinking of it sent her into a wild rage, and she charged the glowing moss on the wall. She'd get tougher, stronger, until nothing could stop her from protecting her babies.

Immediately, Nemesis stumbled. With a grumble, she shook her head and backed up, lining up her charge once more. This time, she was going to AVOID that rock that was a bit in the way.

She'd make a perfect charge this time!

The rhino ran headlong into the wall and her skull was jarred in the process. A pain rang through her head and she scolded, ignoring the way her teeth chattered. With a huff, she scrapped off some moss and started to chew on it.

... Definitely was worth it. She turned her head and lined herself up against the wall, wondering just how much she could scrape off if she charged down the tunnel. She pressed her horn to the wall and then took off, trying to take down as much moss as she could.

The greenery came off like clean butter and she grinned, bowing her head to start and roll up as much moss as she could. Part of her had a great idea to collect it on a thin sheet of rock so that she could bring it back home a bit easier-- like this, it would just fall over everywhere.

So she had to get a bit of rock. Eyeing the wall, she figured she might be able to break off a sheet of it where there was already some cracks. Bowing her head, she lunged at the wall.

The wall cracked a bit more and she backed off, glaring at it with cold blue eyes. She examined the wall and snorted, pointing her horn towards a section that was a bit lower. It was starting to come loose, she just had to...

With a roar, the rhinoceros threw her weight at the wall once more.

Her horn stung as she stumbled back, shaking the dizziness out of her head. She grumbled and stared at the wall, realizing that hadn't done much. Maybe if she tried a different angle?

Nemesis turned her head aside and tried to ram into the wall, shoulder first. She couldn't keep slamming her head into the cavern wall, but hopeful she could break the wall with her massive weight just the same.

The slab she was trying to break cracked a bit more, but it hadn't come loose. She grumbled to herself and put her horn to the wall, trying to wedge it into the crack.

With a groan, she tried to snap the rock with just a bit of leverage from her horn. It was so close to coming off!

Mm, yeah-- it was working, but her nose ached with the effort. She snorted out a bit of smoke, frustration bubbling under her skin. This was so difficult! What she wouldn't give for some dexterous fingers that could just pry the damn thing off.

Getting agitated, the rhino backed off and tried to tackle the wall again. She would have her sheet of stone one way or another!!

"AHA!" She cried as the wall made a terrible cracking sound. She backed up and sure enough the rock fell to the ground, all in one huge, flat piece. The rock around here was just perfect for breaking off into slabs-- she had no idea what made some rocks different from others, but this was convenient.

She hooked her horn under the rock and tried to haul it over to the mess of moss on the other side of the wall. It was actually quite heavy, to her surprise, but whatever. She was tough!

Or not. The rock seemed stuck in place as she tried to slide it across the floor. She grumbled and huffed, stomping her feet on the floor as she tried to get a better angle. It didn't help that the rock was right against the wall-- but maybe if she tried pushing it this way it would work a bit better?

Whatever. She wasn't going to get beaten by a dumb piece of rock.
