ORIGIN - Of snakes and Wolves

It had only been a few days. Two gems left situated back at the spire, tucked away and hopefully hidden among the other gems that gathered around the spire. He would never go too far from them. Not just yet. He did not trust others to leave things well enough alone. Especially here. As much as he prefered this place over others, there was still a danger to all those who visited or made a home here. He of course had the ability to fly away from wandering golems. His future children, however, did not. He wasn't exactly entirely sure if golems were drawn to growing gembounds in their Chrysalis, but if they were Damian sure hoped they wouldn't notice his growing children.

Auburn eyes narrowed as he crouched near the Crystal River, searching the waters for a tasty snack. Smaller fish swam by, but none of those meager morsels were of any interest for this beast. He needed a proper snack. Only a large fish would do. Before too long one finally came through and Damian shifted to brace on pawed hand against the edge of the riverbank as he leaned in closer. He held his breath and finally with one swift movement, plunged his other hand into the water, claws extending as her aimed to grasp the fish from the waters. As his hand gripped it's tail fen he jerked his arm back, sending the fish flying out of the water. A snarl ripped from his chest as the thing managed to slip free of his grasp and go sailing through the air.

Damian took no hesitance to go chasing after it and as it fell down jumped to catch it. Once secured Damian landed on his pawed feet heavily. He snorted to himself before he chowed down. Tearing the fish's meat from it's bones. Before long it was just bones and a single head left as it was cast aside to clatter along the ground only to tumble right back into the river to be swept away. With one final sigh Damian flopped back onto his haunches before falling back to lay against his back. His wings had shifted, moving out so not to be squashed beneath him before they too settled lazily across the ground he now lay upon. The spire loomed above him from it's position from here and Damian only cast a simple glance towards it before closing his eyes. A nap wouldn't hurt either...

OoC: Eeehhhhh, finally right?

Midas has been lurking in silence, watching over the nest near the River and checking up on the growth of his spawn regularly. He found himself constantly hunting and being on the prowl for food to gift to the chicken-raptor. After all, surely warmth and 'love' would aid the growth of his progeny? This was one of the few days he was on the hunt for the russet avian and himself.

He'd already constricted a cave rat and devoured it, and he was out to find something else to bring back to the nest. But there was something a whole lot more interesting. Simply put... it was a great black blob with sanguine-colored wings. Inquistive and observant as always, the serpent tugged at his magicka and attempted to mask himself in shadow and sneak closer.

It was a roaring success, his scales darkening and becoming shrouded in darkness. Midas smiled quietly to himself in satisfaction, lime green eyes eagerly glinting as he stalked closer and closer. The blob was covered in quite a lot of fur, and it seemed to be quite tall, seeing as those legs must have been for walking on them, rather than some of the odd four-legged creatures in the cave. On the left hip, there was a glimmering stone. Hopefully he had not been noticed yet, so he decided that this would be easy prey. It was sleeping after all. He just had to... coil around that big strong neck. The blob looked really strong.

Maybe he shouldn't do this.

But he really wanted to test him.

Why???

Midas slithered closer and took off his disguise of shadows to begin coiling about the lycantrophe's right wrist, experimentally coiling around and around and slithering up towards his shoulder. He didn't take into account that an extremely cold snake coiling around your arm seemed pretty hard to ignore.

Damian shifted, almost snoring in his sleep as his dreams were whisked away to places unheard of. It wasn't often he found himself content in his dreams so when he was, it was pretty hard for anything to wake the slumbering beast. As his dreams shifted, changing and warping from one to another, Damian shifted. Even as something began grasping at his arm he did not shift, but the sudden change of temperature made his brows furrow as a scowl curled across his features. It was already cold enough in these caves, but the way his arm went colder stirred Damian for a brief moment.

His gem seemed to react and before he would fully awake his body began to rise in temperature if only in the slightest. However, when a strange tingling began to wave through his arm Damian did stir. Eyes popped open and just as he turned to look his nose met with that of a rather large snake. His fur bristled as she sat up quickly only to grunt when the weight of the snake tried to hold his other arm down. "And just what do you think you're doing," He snarled lowly as he narrowed his eyes at the snake all the while forcing his arm up, muscles fighting to flex and shift beneath the large anaconda.

The serpent felt a small surge of magicka, and the arm that he had coiled about seemed to heat up a little. Suddenly, a nose colder than his blood met his own. Gilded eyes glared into his lime green orbs. Midas recoiled a bit, head lurching back to get away from the cold and wet nose. What was he doing?

Well... Midas wasn't quite sure what he was doing. He flicked his tongue out and thought for a moment. "I seek a contest. A contest of strength. Apex predator to apex predator." Oh. Was that really what he desired? Just to see if he was stronger than this massive beast? He had to be, of course! But he waited to see if his challenge was accepted. Until then, he loosened himself from the lycantrophe's forearm.

Damian stared long and hard at the reptile as it flicked it's tongue out only to issue it's challenge. A dark smirk curled across his features as the beast took no hesitance to lift himself up to his pawed feet. His muscles tensed and flexed, nearly struggling with the new weight that had been added to one of his arms. "Fine. What...will become of the winner of this contest?" Again he smirked, curious to see if this snake had something in mind for his sudden desire to challenge Damian to a contest of strenght.

this would definitely prove to be interesting and Damian nearly rumbled with joy at finding some creature that could possbily prove to be a bigger challenge than Baratheon did. Of course, this snake creature was no Bara either. Was definitely a good thing he imagined. For a moment he wondered if this snake really did have an idea of what the winner would receive, or if he was just wanting to test his strength against Damian's.

Honestly, he wasn't sure why he was doing this. Gilded eyes trained intensely upon the serpent, the Lycantrophe sat up, his arm obviously weighed down by the massive anaconda coiled about it. With a dark smirk upon his face, the beast spoke once again. What would become? Midas was honestly confused.

He didn't think about this too much.

"The winner shall recieve..." Dammit Midas, why are you so... oddly attracted... to this wolf? "A meal every day for a cycle from the loser."

That was fair enough, right?

And with that, he began to coil around the canine's arm, tightening his grip on his arm.

A free meal every day for an entire cycle seemed like the best winnings for Damian. He could lazily sit around the spire waiting for his children to hatch and allow this reptile hunt him meals. A dark smirk shadowed across his features as he felt the snake begin to tighten around his arm. Instantly he began to flex, trying to make it harder for the snake to do what he was intending to do. Perhaps he would even try to lift the snake up a bit and prove his strenght in that manner.

The serpent watched as the lycantrophe began to flex his muscles, but it seemed they were a little unwilling to let the snake up. Failing, Midas hissed gleefully. "You might just be about to start hunting and providing for my family." That was something considering Hen ate probably five whole cave deer a day. Seriously, where did all that food go?

you're cool ark, this can be a spree sorta thing. dami can roll others to get midas off and if he successes, I'll roll to see if midas manages to stay on. if he fails, then dami wins. if he successes, dami has to try again. if dami crit. fails then that means midas wins? idk

The snakes words reached his ears and Damian snorted loudly as his ears pinned back aggressively. "We'll see about that," He grumbled as he moved and tried to lift his arm again. He would try to get the snake off his arm by peeling away and trying to uncoil the snake from him. He would not lose this! He would not lose to some reptile who thought to constrict him while he was blissfully lost in a dream of sleep.

The serpent smirked as the werewolf took offense to his words, but he soon began to panic a little as he began to pry him off his arm. Midas flicked his tongue out in frustration and attempted to coil harder and harder about the arm. Thankfully, he managed. He kept his firm hold on the wolf and placed a cocky grin on his scaled lips.
