The cow couldn't help but cringe as he watched the fox child gobble down the rat. He supposed that was one reason why Hasira hated carnivores, but honestly Caravaggio just attributed it to his high disdain for gross things, and that was definitely gross. In fact watching it made him start to feel uncomfortable, sick even, until the child had finally stopped with a demanding question. The cow glanced at the Eve, then back at him.
"Well I don't know what you are!" He harumphed, two seconds from scolding the child for asking such a stupid question, before he tested out his name and Caravaggio blinked dumbly at him.
"Yeah. Thats my name. You're obviously not an Eve, and you're not a Caravaggio. So what are you, huh?" The boy shoved his nose obnoxiously at the fox, quirking a brow.
@Todd
Appearing not to notice the distain of the big creature standing over him, the hatchling could feel the fur sticking around his mouth so he lapped at it with his small pink tongue. The other didn't seem impressed, and answered his questions with... Well, nothing. He wondered if no-one knew what he was, if he was some kind of new force in this world or if he was just nothing.
"I dunno... Either..." He muttered, looking shamefully down at the ground; though perhaps he just didn't like that tone of voice.
He shrank away as the cow shoved their nose at him, a struggle to understand in his eyes. He hadn't known what a name was, but now that he thought about it he knew what the word meant.
"everyone has a name except me..." he mourned.
"I dunno, I dunno what I am! Where can I get a name too? Can you help me find one?"
@Caravaggio
Caravaggio grinned proudly as the fox delighted in the names, but his smile slowly began to falter as the fox stumbled over the names, and turned into a full out frown when th bird criticized him for picking a name that already belonged to another Gembound.
"Well! Excuse me for not knowing! At least this Raphael is blessed with a lovely name." He scoffed and wondered if there was some way he could take credit for it, despite not knowing this Raphael person at all. He listened impatiently as Eve explained the name of her son - Oliver - but his curiosity really piqued when she mentioned having a daughter.
"Oh? And what's her name?" The cow cocked a brow, feigning an arrogant challenge that masked his voracious wonder. He hoped, oh he hoped she would speak the name and settle his curiosity once and for all.
More suggestions were presented to the fox and he looked back at the kit, still frowning.
"Rowan! That's too girly. You want something simple?" He scoffed and lifted his head, searching his brain for a name that was both simple and fitting, and maybe a little elegant in its own way.
"Todd! Todd. There you go." Caravaggio announced dismissively. Yeah, as if anybody was gonna go for THAT name.
@Todd (i dont know if you wanted eve or gio to pick his name, so i just went for it! let me know if you want me to change it, i can totally take it back if its not how you wanted it to go!)
"Speech" @Eve @Caravaggio
Oh. There goes that idea then. The little fox was was confused, and tilted his head far to one side as he looked at the crow quizzically.
"So everyone has different names? Why wouldn't that be good?" Then his jaw fell open quite far, and he gave a tiny gasp.
"That's why I can't be an eve!" he yelled excitedly, heart pounding in his moment of sudden realization.
"I get it now!"
He felt so smart!
"Oh. So... is it better for a name to be perfect or for a name to... suit you?" he didn't know what the difference was at the moment. All this new information was making his head spin. The pair got a little loud, and he shied down slightly, ears drooping to the sides of his head. Rowan now! that was another idea. he thought it would be easier on the tongue. The little fox sucked in his breath, about to try it when... that one was turned down too. He let out his breath in a little puff of air.
Then suddenly... Todd. Todd. It was quick. Easy to remember. Not like rememb-ant or... whatever he had been called. It stuck in his mind. A grin spread over his little face.
"Todd... Todd. Todd!"
It was so easy to say! So fast. so firm. He'd have hated a name like Caravaggio but he loved saying this. He found it fun to say. He loved it.
"Todd, Todd, Todd!" he sang, delightedly.
"That's me. I'm a Todd now!"
((OOC: No, this is perfect! Thank you! <3 ))
