Todd was exploring again, and he had to admit that part of exploring seemed to be completely losing oneself in the many tunnels and interesting caverns. Some were fairly uninteresting to him, but others Todd could spend hours listening to the sounds or staring at all the pretty lights.
As Todd walked today, he paid particularly close attention to the sound of his own paws, a sound that echoed and even made a little musical rythmn in his head as he daydreamed.
Tap! went his small claws on the cold stone.
Clink! went his gem paw pad.
Tap!
Clink!
Tap!
Snap! went a bone as he stepped on it.
Todd jarred back into his senses and lifted his glittering paw. The crumbled bone of what might have been a tiny prey bird lay beneath. Finally, Todd raised his gaze and laid eyes upon the ancient room of bones. Well now, this is a new one, he thought, his ears pricking up in enormous curiosity. He looked around, taking in the sights of the thousand bones; the cub, as young and innocent as he was, had no idea what they were or that they might, once, have belonged to Gembound like himself.
In his mind's eye, he saw an enormous playground, and all he could really do was stare, wondering what to climb on first.
