"Speech" @Macawi

Todd looked at Macawi expectantly, and gazed intently at the feather, then to Macawi, then the feather again. After a couple of moments, she dropped her nose and touched it to the feather, and Todd dropped onto his front paws so that he was bowed as if in play. His eyes blinked curiously, wide with all his hopes and expectations. It seemed to last a while, and Todd's gaze flickered up to the lantern he'd been trying to catch. He wondered if he could take that light and put it in the-

"Uh? Oh?" he looked at Macawi again, still in his bowed position, tail waving up. He was confused; he'd never known that magic could... fail before. His always seemed to work immediately! He was sure it did. Though it was likely that his memory was bad. Not that he thought about that. It never crossed his mind that he'd have flaws of all the things. But Todd didn't doubt Macawi for a single second. He knew, in a childish sort of way that the feather would light up eventually.

"Yes, yes! Macawi can try again! It'll light up, I... err... Todd know it will!"

"Speech"

Macawi didn't respond, so Todd assumed that the coyote was still trying. He laid his head on his paws and waited patiently for as long as he could which, needless to say, wasn't very long. The little one grinned up at Macawi, picking up the feather in his jaws. "If yeh can' do et," he mumbled around the feather. "I'll find the shpell mahself!" Although it might have seemed he was being insensitive, truth was the little one was just ignorant.

He didn't understand emotions, or the concept of hurting another's feelings.

"I'm go explore s'more!" he declared after another few moments of waiting. The feather still gripped in his jaws, Todd ran off, his bushy tail whirling and his eyes bright with happiness.
