Up to the hip in snow, Priest fussed about on top of the Mother's cap, brushing the frozen lumps off of silvery flesh, patting the revealed areas as if worried the cold had damaged the heart of Eridanus. His hearing being as abysmal as it was, it was only the second call that caught his attention. The numbat's head twitched to focus on the sound, and he slowly made his way to the edge of the massive mushroom's top, peering over the side. It took a moment for his eye to focus, but once it did, he blinked in surprise. "Marigold? My child, whatever is the matter..?"
Okay, so maybe the problem was the other child, slung over her back, lowered to the ground with care. Frowning, concern lining his face with age, Priest slowly twisted over the edge, climbing down the Mother's underside to her stalk, finally coming to rest on the shadowed ground, removing his cane from its holster and raising his trusty glowing pebble to focus on the two hybrids. "Oh my. Whatever happened to your young friend?"
Slowly and carefully, Priest hobbled to the stranger's side, ears pitched forward, gaze roaming over his pelt in a strange sort of curiosity. "Just stay still for me, my child. Marigold," he added, gaze raising to the dog-snake, "do be a dear and try to keep them calm, yes? Unneeded stress won't help, I'm afraid." Request given, the numbat refocused on the injured wolf-bat, patting at a shoulder reassuringly. "Do not worry, little one. I am Priest. You are safe here."
