ORIGIN - All that Glitters & Glows

In the span of a heartbeat she became aware, not just of the things around her but of herself, feelings, thoughts, sounds and.... Her eyes fluttered open to see ... nothing, she saw nothing it was so dense and dark inside Sami couldn't tell how far the darkness went. Only that there was something further past it, reaching out with a huge fluffy paw she made contact with the smooth surface of her chrysalis. It was warm to the touch and comforting but she felt like the only way out was through it. And that made her a little bit sad, closing her eyes pressed up against her chrysalis. Felling its warmth she smiled it had protected her this entire time, protected her from the elements, from predictors and those who might have wished her harm. And for all of that she thanked it, her only true family that she had thus far know, she wanted to give something back to it but she did not know what.

This want of giving welled up inside Sami, drenching the inside of her with magic as her innate sens of self opened her heart to Sami's own power. Closing her eyes she let the magic guide her paw, she felt the weakest part of her confines and pressed. As she did her power's filled her to the brim till they finally spilled out of her straight into the gem chrysalis. Her power turned into I brilliant bright light running from her paw, making spider webs of light run over the surface. The streams of light sped over the surface intertwining with each other till the entire structure inside and out glow with an inner light. It would have been a stunning sight to see if you were the observer, the soft glow spilling onto the foliage around the gem crystal. Bathing the area in a warm blue hue sending shadows to dance all over the cave walls. The bliss only to be broken with the deft cracking of the gem.

Within moments Sami pressed up against the insides of the Chrysalis, with all her might she pushed only spurred more upon hearing cracking. And with a final valiant shove she heaved outwards, this sent cracks over the chrysalis glowing surface till it could not take anymore and exploded outwards in a shower of lights. Leaving Samarah in the center of it all, the falling gems not once loosing their light as they tumbled to the ground. Sending light scattering everywhere staining her fur in a multitude of colors, it was something out of a fairy tail you would say. Opening her blue gray eyes, she smiled with warmth only known to the innocent or truly good of heart. Her stare soothing yet piercing shoots straight thought you, looking right into your stunned face through the foliage Sami spoke in a silken voice "Hello there, my name is Samarah Zahvi...and who might you be?"

As soon as he was big and strong enough to swim - which didn't take long - Saosin practically couldn't leave it. He was happy that the river ran through the room he called his home, though Saosin didn't consider this a luxury so much as he figured it was just a feature of the cave, and he found himself enjoying it enough to know he was happy it was there. He felt like he was made for the water, which was strange considering his brother and father... weren't. He didn't quite understand the difference, and it frustrated him, but there wasn't anything he could do considering his limited understanding. It was a thought he placed on the backburner, leaving room for him to enjoy the water and his carefree life instead.

The river wound through the room and he had swam its length a few times, moving with the current was always easier until he reached the end, and then the ground dipped down into darkness and he was afraid of getting sucked into the hole, so he always hopped back onto shore before it swallowed him. Going against the current was another story - he swam that way when he wanted a challenge. Today he was just having a relaxing swim, his streamlined body riding with the gentle tug of the water, when he had raised his head above the surface for a breath. He didn't always surface in the same place, and where he pushed his head free of the water, he spotted something near the wall. Something shiny. Something blue.

Saosin couldn't deny his intrigue. The weredolphin poked his nose over the edge of the rock, the rest of his body still submerged, and then gripped the edge with his hands. Ever so slowly he pulled himself ashore and began to inch towards the great big blue rock - it looked a lot like his chrysalis, but was duller, not as sparkly. The hybrid sniffed curiously at it, until it sounded like something suddenly shifted inside of it. He froze, wide-eyed, and watched as streams of light suddenly manifested from its cracks. A warm glow breathed out from within the chrysali, and Saosin was struck.

Then it shattered. Like an angel bursting forth from the unknown, shining shards of chrysali burst away and revealed a tiny feline. Saosin flinched, and then straightened, his eyes glued to her. She turned to him and spoke, so much more composed than he. All he could do was blurt out, "UUAAAHHHH" while he struggled to understand what just happened, his poor, starstruck brain scrambling for purchase.

The little snow leopard could not understand his answer, could he just not talk properly? Or did she hurt him in some way when she had emerged from her chrysalis. She had to find out right that instance! For she would not be indebted to someone so soon after breathing her first under the ceiling of the grand gave she would call home one day.

Standing Sami found her footing fairly easy her large paws giving her a wider surface to cling to as she tested her legs. Satisfied she sauntered over to the thing that, upon closer inspection smelt like food. Ignoring that thought for a moment the small feline who happened to be slightly larger then the ...fishthing stepped closer in to his 'bubble'. Sniffing him to see if he was wounded she continued her inspection of him, padding all around him. Her tail brushing against his smooth skin , rubbing against him in a friendly cat manner as she payed no thought to personal space. She even pawed and sniffed at his tail in curiosity shrugging off his reaction(s) to her advances Sami found her way to his front end looking square in his eyes from a few inches away.

"Hmmm, you don't seem hurt, or lame or I think you would have cried out by now...So what are you then?" She spoke with a quizzical quirk to her smooth voice tilting her head Sami's Blue-Gray gaze capturing his eyes when/if he looked at her. If the fishthing wasn't hurt or lame then was he just .. slow? She thought this couldn't be good for a newly hatched as he looked, may-hap not as new as her? The leopardess couldn't tell as she contemplated all these things still not wavering from her position as she awaited his answer while growing hungrier all the while.

Like a cold, slow engine chugging away, Saosin stared at her and rolled this entire encounter through his brain, trying to make sense of it. She had just burst forward from her chrysalis like some kind of angel, bathed in the deep blue light that clung to the shards of amber, staring at him with soft eyes and a soft smile and composed words - more composed than him, that was for sure, and he just didn't understand her or what she was about. He had met other Gembounds before, but she was nothing like them. There was something about her that escaped his grasp. Something that he couldn't pinpoint. Maybe it was because he didn't know her intention. But how could she have one, when she had only just entered the world? Oh, it was too much for him!

She came close to him before Saosin had a chance to regain his composure, and suddenly she was impinging on his personal space, walking around, sniffing, brushing against him, and he felt the softness of her young fur and smelled her earthy, bitter newborn smell, wrinkling his nose. Finally he scowled and stumbled away from her, gracelessly fumbling over his hind legs and his fat tail. "Ge'away from me!" He grumbled at her, raising his head to stare down his angular snout at the feline in high offense. In turn, she rattled off a few possibilities that would explain his behavior, seemingly as confounded by him as he was by her. Oh, but he was simple. Simple, stupid, dumb boy. Her? He had no explanation.

"I'm none'a your business! What's your deal, burstin' out like that, huh? You distracted me! I was doing laps!" Saosin claimed, gesturing back to the river with one arm. He was lying, he never bothered to keep track of his laps, but that wasn't the point. It was her fault for taking him away from his exercise and now she had to make up for it.

The little Leopardess tilted her head, watching and listening as the fishthing flailed back. Accusing her of interrupting him...{but wasn't he already standing there when she hatched? He was definitely on land and not in the water when she laid eyes on him. So there must be another reason he stopped his laps, or perhaps she really did interrupt him.} As she thought about this a bug landed on her ear making it twitch her eyes coming back into focus. Shrugging of the thought she was probably overthinking it and decided to let it go no use worrying on weather or not that was true either way Sami found the reactions of the walking fish were amusing , making her want to be around him more.

Approaching him again heedless of his words with a smile on her face "Well if that's the case I am sorry for distracting you" Even though she really really wasn't and it probably showed on her face, stopping right in front of him again, yet perhaps not as close. "But you are wrong Fishboy, you are interesting... so I will make you my business" Her smile widened with a quirk as she watched him then padded past him towards the water sinking to a crouch she pawed at the water, her stomach making its complaints more noticeable. Turning to look over her shoulder at him. "Why where you doing laps in the first place? What are laps for..Can you eat them? How about you Fishboy?" Twitching her head back to the water

Her questions, although laughable were full of innocence that one would be hard pressed not to at least smile at, as she really didn't mean; if she could eat the food-like-smelling-fishthing she had just seen something flashing below the surface that had caught her attention and the snow white feline had stopped mid question in asking him if he was hungry as well. Instead it sounded like she was asking if she could eat him, something she didn't realize even after the fact. Pulling her ears back she again addressed him but this time without turning around."Well?"Was all she asked again as she was slightly more impulsive, not old enough to reign it in and lightly impatient this showed in the way her tail swished and her growing hunger didn't make it any easier to control.

Lotus had left her hatching spot in Canis. She was still only a newly hatched gembound but she was a little more stabled than before. She didnt even know that there were others out there in Polaris but she wanted to explore to understand the place and meet knew gembounds. The little girl came across two voices which caused the cub to hide. She peeked out seeing something in the water and a spotted gembound talking to the weird one in the water. One of them would be able to see her but she hoped that they didnt cause she didnt want them to hurt her. She was still so young. Little Lottie watched them quietly scared her hackles standing up nervously.

His eyes slowly narrowed as he watched the cub. She apologized, but something in her voice suggested that it wasn't entirely sincere, and - hah! There it was! She smiled wide and admitted that he was interesting (small ego boost), then called him Fishboy (nevermind) and declared that he was her business now. "What! That's not how it works!" He sneered at her, stepping back and raising his head in a challenge. Did she really think that she could just boss him around like that?! Just DECIDE that he was her business and get all up in his grill?! The nerve this girl had - it was forgotten, again, when she suddenly asked about doing laps and Saosin had to roll his eyes despite secretly feeling delighted that she wanted to know more about him. "Pfftt! As if - wait, what?"

What did she just ask? Was she asking if she could... eat him?! He gawked at her for a moment more before she probed for an answer and he snorted, shaking his head. "Get a grip! No you can't eat me! I'm too big and I'll kick your ass if you even try!" The boy raised his voice, affronted that she would even ask such a thing, and pouring forth one of the many swear words he'd heard his father say. It made him feel super cool. And badass. He huffed and turned to the water, preparing to answer her question. "Anyways-"

Except not. As he turned to gesture to the water, he noticed another young feline cowering nearby. Saosin's words cut off, startled by her sudden appearance, and then he slowly narrowed his eyes and barked out, "Who are you?!" Then he snapped his gaze back at the snow leopard, what did she say her name was? Samarah. "Is this one of your friends?" He asked sarcastically, knowing fully well that she wasn't. He had just watched Samarah hatch. No way they could know each other.

Flicking her ear she listened to his squawked word, yes that is what she thought of them, Fishboy squawk. Pushing her chest from the ground she swiveled her torso so she could look at him with a grin. "Listen here Mr wayward fishboy" she spoke taunting him, the grin playing across her face, pearly white alabaster teeth flashing "I will if I want to, as you are the one who found me you need to take responsibility" tail twitching "I..what? I never said I wanted to eat you" she said with a slight tilt of her head. When did she say that? huh, well either way, stomach growling "I could make an exception though" the leopardess grinned standing up, her fur now dried, fluffy tail waving back and forth as she approached him. Eyes alight with the idea, if only to make the fishthing in front of her stutter, that was the best part about him thus far. He certainly could amuse her.

And yet her padding was interrupted when another player entered their area. Plopping down where she had stalked to, a few inches from fishboy; Sami swiveled around at his inclination of another watching them. Icen eyes scanned the the grasses around them only to alight on a small ball of fur just like her, and yet different. The color was the same but the markings and body structure was not. Hmmm, a conundrum for the small feline as she pondered the other cat in front of them. And in a moment she had sprung from her place like a rubber-band, as her want over ruled her head, she wanted a closer inspection.

The flight through cool air was short as gravity took over bringing the leopardess down upon her prey. Falling right on top of the other creature in a 'glomp' if you would, tumbling them out of the grass onto the shore. Being victorious she wound up on top staring down at the other feline, tail held high in the air "No, this thing, is not known to me, so couldn't possibly be my friend...but" she stared straight into the now more feminine looking cats eyes. "She could be?" Sami's judge of character was almost spot on most of the time, at least that would prove to be true, but for now the little snowy furred feline wavered on the edge's of trusting her intuition, for if the creature under her turned into an enemy she was in the perfect position to strike.

Lotus stood there listening to the two talk when both had seen her and mentioned about her being friends with the spotted girl but Lottie had never seen the spotted one in her life. She had just hatched a few days ago and in a different place. She was about to leave the two creatures to talk when the spotted female pounced on her and making the two cubs roll from the grass to the shore making the spotted gembound on top of her. The cub struggled under the spotted gembound and let out a growl. Her tail swooshed back and forth. She wasnt too happy with being pinned down but she was an all around sweet and friendly cub. "Please donts eats meh. I ams only a babys like yous." Little Lottie said nervously. Most gembounds would love to eat a small baby like her for a meal. She wished that someone would protect her but the little fuzzball didnt have anyone around to protect her nor did she know anyone that would protect her.

She was making ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS claims, and Saosin couldn't help but gawk at her, totally affronted. She was... bold. Bolder than he would have expected from a freshly emerged Gembound. And he wasn't sure if he liked it. She was sassy and unpredictable and a challenge, which was nice in a way, but he did get enough of that from his half-dragon brother. Why couldn't these Gembounds just sit back and let him have his way? What was so bad about that?

"You couldn't even if you tried!" Saosin sneered and raised his head. And as she slowly stalked closer, he began to move back, watching her carefully - this was until the other babe had appeared, and in a flash the leopard had lunged towards the newcomer, startling Saosin slightly (and hopefully, unnoticeably). "Hah! You wanna eat somebody? Take a chunk outta her!" Saosin blurted, laughing as the youngster pleaded not to be eaten. If she was so keen on eating people, why not the helpless child?
