ORIGIN

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately, I've sunk back into an Australian schedule which means I'm only ever on when it's night time over here (Brisbane EST). Which means I'm not on when all you guys are and that makes me vair sad rip
Really upsets me as I love talking to all of you and being able to spree and talk plots because being the loop is the best way to get the best RP IMO <3. You're also all amazing so yeah.

But I need help changing my writing style. I've just grown bored with it. It's the same sentence structure, the same words and I'm now consciously trying to correct it. In my newest two Iliad posts I've focused on changing it up and I just want people, if they can, when I make a post maybe critique me on it? ;^; Just become all writing self conscious and I'd love to try and improve the way I've been RPing for so long.

But I shall continue posting now as it's all quiet and I can focus on pumping out all the posts just to get caught up!

I've found the best way to do that is by reading an author of unique writing style or whom posses a quality worthy of imitation.

I understand what you mean, Azoo, a lot of the time I think that the things I write are kind of...simple? Very plain-spoken and not very imaginative, and it's hard to be descriptive in the way I really want, because it takes a lot of effort.

But yeah, post a link here to what you want critiqued and we can look at it!

I think a lot of writing styles are influenced heavily by a character's mindset. For me, i try to shape my style based on the character - for example, Magdalena's style is flowery, exotic, dark, and detached. Bartos is highly metaphorical, descriptive and factual. Leon tends to be simpler and i place a lot of emphasis on emotions, since Leon is a highly emotional character. Ghanyarah is largely sensory and tactile, and he's a little sillier in writing. Caravaggio is simple, silly and dumb.

Of course this habit is terrible if you're writing anything longer than an RP post (in which case you want to keep a consistent style), but i think its a pretty good exercise and makes you more flexible as a writer.
