She'd been gone for a while, at least a cycle but who was keeping track? The queen had just been lurking in the shadows, investigating and stealing where she could. The stash at her chosen den in Monoceros was growing ever larger which made the lady quite happy. The feather she'd previously stolen was gone... but that was all to the good. She didn't even want to think about the dark magic associated with it. That had probably been the reason she'd took a leave of absence. To deal with all of the haunting things of Eridanus. Her head needed to be cleared and she had done just that.

Now it was time to get back into business.

The queen entered Monoceros on all fours before raising up onto her rear legs. It didn't seem like anyone was around but that was fine. It would give her time to get acclimated before dealing with any big issues that no doubt had cropped up in her absence. The little mongoose walked over to a rock and leaned against it, her necklace which was laden with a few more fangs around the shard of Erebus' stone sagged against her chest. This little thing, she was quite proud of it and the little trophies that adorned it.

With a sigh her eyes half-closed while she relaxed. A tune was hummed at her throat... She wondered who would show up first? She hoped her son. The little howler-mongoose was one of the two things she actually cared about in this world.

Wind. If there was one thing she hated most about this place, it was the damn wind. It never seemed to shut up, no matter how deep into her makeshift dens she curled. The heavy weight of the tiara only grew colder, chilling her to the bone, until finally she'd given up on sleep entirely, snapping at nothing as she trundled out of hiding, head held high, tail raised for balance. Magdalena and Nemesis were nowhere within sight, and Fleur wilted a bit at the prospect of running into anyone but them - none of the other Merrymen had been particularly fond of her. The sick, poisoning thorns wrapped around her heart that shouted Diamondfang! Diamondfang! counted against them all.

She didn't know where she'd gone wrong. Maybe falling for the allure of being a "princess" in the first place. Yeah, that sounded about right. The cold settled her, and Fleur sat down before the shadows at the edges of the room, eyes closing against the biting wind. Of course, as soon as she'd regained her balance, it was tossed away again by the hum coming from Monoceros' entrance. A sharp glare searched out the source - and widened at the sight of the woman herself, waiting patiently. Pure white fur prickled along Fleur's back, dread and love mixing into a noxious brew in her throat.

The monkey child. That had to be what the Queen was here for, not her... but she needed to get back into her good graces, close enough to hold back this mix of wants. The pull to run up to her and curl around her, force her not to leave again, gentle her with affection, was strong. It wasn't strong enough to kill off the need for some kind of payback, retribution for the childhood she'd never been given, the loss of any kind of normal means of interacting with the outside world - all cut off by her complete loyalty to one tiny creature.

Confidence. In herself, in the power Florence's spirit lent her. She needed to rely on that now, not on the half-dead, soul-deep love that had poisoned her this long. Fleur slunk off towards the Queen of Thieves, stopping a foot from her side, sitting down and inclining her head in only mildly feigned respect. "My. Queen. You. Are well?"
