ORIGIN - Pied Brothers

In a beautiful rose quartz lies a creature so beautiful creature inside of the perfect gem. The creature inside stir awake and opened her eyes to complete darkness. The little boy started to figure out a way to get whatever he was confined in to let him free. Finally he started kicking his rear legs hard until a loud-CRACK-Erupted from the gem. Little Rio laid there half of his body was out of the gem and the upper half was still in the gem's other half. The little boy's tail flick a little as he laid there. He swung his head up making the other half fly off and landed behind him. Rio looked around and saw another Rose Quartz gem laying next to him and he touched it slightly with his pink nose. It had to be another one like him. A gembound. He hoped though that it was like another gembound him a beautiful species. Rio tried to stand up but he just kept falling. He didnt have his land legs yet and he kept trying hoping to stand up before any danger came towards him and the other gembound.

The deft crack of his brothers chrysalis shattering stirred the young fawn from his slumber. This unfortunately wasn't the first time he had awoken; blinking he looked all around finding himself still within his gem chrysalis, pink light filtering in fractures all around him. His Gem was not a smooth shell as you would have thought it might be. Instead jagged sharp edges protruding all around, as well as being quite larger then his brothers. The towering Rose Quarts oval cast his brother in a long shadow, almost as if it were there to protect him. And that was exactly what it was for, shaped from Roanin's desire to protect his innocent brother from all the world. As he had witnessed its tragedies before he could understand what they were for.

Tears streamed down his soft cheeks to patter against his bent knees, some falling past making lightly drumming against the confines of his gem. Sniffling he bent his head to lean against the Chrysalis's inner wall his own Heart Quarts glowing with a soft dim light, shimmering from the inside out he sobbed. As the young fawn recalled all the things he had seen through his semi clear chrysalis, {The outside world was terrifying} He thought to himself , Roanin wanted to spend the rest of his life hidden away from those sights and sounds. Although just as his brother nudged the outside of Nina's Gem-bonds his eyes snapped open from their once tightly squeezed state.

But what of his brother? Who wold protect him? Tears still streaming down his face, the white tailed pivoted around in the chrysalis to set his own nose to where his brothers shadow darkened the gems walls. Roanin desperately wanted to be by his brothers side but as he lifted his hind legs to strike his confines hes stopped. Eyes widened {But if he shattered the gem wouldn't that just be like killing it?} With this revelation his small frame slumped tears welling up blurring his vision once again the small male wept. Uncontrolled shuddering took over his body at his own weakness. What if something tried to hurt his brother because he was unable to move forward? He couldn't bear that thought just as much as he couldn't make himself break the beautiful Chrysalis that had given him life and protected him and his brother.

The star-room spread out around him, its once comforting glow now casting a harsh glare on his diminished form. He'd wandered the ruins of the cave for hours, obsessive, only letting the little white angel out of his sight once the buck was safe with the scarred, leading angel. Those scars - they'd relaxed him. He was among friends, here. Friends who had been harmed by demons, skin flayed back by fire, ripped into with white-hot swords. An entire colony of angels.

But sleep would not come. He was haunted by the fleeting memories from Before, white wings and black feathers, gentle hands - paws - hooves? - twisting his mane in shining plaits. Gray-gold eyes roamed across the span of broken homes, the familiar sight, at least, settling the roiling of his stomach. Nothing but acid lay within, and his tongue already burnt from its emptying. The gelding could do nothing but search, trembling violently, bones sticking out at awkward, sharp angles as he walked.

Something glinted, pink and shining, at the edge of his vision. He turned, slunk forward, gaze widening at the sight of a newborn angel, fragile and gentle, nosing at an unborn kin. The horse without a name felt the pull of his gemstone, something dark and comforting uncurling, reaching to wrap around him. Feather-soft, shadows of black ink slithered across thin, bloody skin, shrouding him in a thin layer of shadow. Slowly, deliberately so, the tall, inelegant shape moved forth, stopping only inches before the newborn, leaning down to gently snuffle over its back and forehead, searching for hidden wounds. With only the strange smell of birth fluid coating the child, his oblong head shifted to peer at the unbroken, rose-tinted egg, nosing at its surface curiously.

Out.

Rio hears someone coming and saw a big gembound that was bigger than him. The baby gembound turned all a way around looking at the beast. The baby boy didnt know what to do or what to say. The poor babe didnt know if he could talk or if he was a mute. He hoped that he wasnt mute. Rio tried to protect his brother lowering his head as if he had antlers. He wasnt gonna let this big beast touch his brother. Rio was the first to emerge from his chrysalis which meant he was the big brother and he had to protect his brother from all dangers including a big gembound like the one standing in front of him. He dug at the ground with his hoof and his tail stood tall and fluffy in a way. "Mine...mine...no touch no touch." he said looking slowly up at the big gembound. The big gembound moved closer until stopping only inches away. The horse reached his nose out to Rio sniffing his back for god knows what then looking at the unhatched gem. Rio needed to assert himself as the dominant one here but how was this little spotted babe going to show that he was the dominant one here if he was too small for anyone to take seriously. Again he tried to yell at the big horse. "Mine...not touch no touch." he said even though the gem really wasnt his.

Within the span of his snuffling gasps the little Piebald sensed something outside but couldn't quite tell what it was. All the shuddering Fawn knew was his brother's voice as it wavered out his own warning to the thing that had approached the duo. Tears staining his fur, ears perked trying to hear anything that would spell danger to his brother. He pressed against the gem where the twin's shadow was, hoping beyond hope that the other presence wasn't there to hurt them. {Please, please nothing happen to him} Nina prayed with all his heart, damning his own parallelizing emotions, if only he could break this cage, if only he didn't care as much. But he knew the last part to be wrong, even though he was unable to bring himself to break the gem. He still loved everything, in his heart of hearts he knew that would never change, even if he were to be hurt by this stubbornness he would never stop.

Tears breaking forth again he sobbed, wasn't there something that he could do? Even if it were a small sign, something, anything to tell this unknown beast they meant no harm. And if it did to try to deter the presence from trying anything rash. He couldn't be a burden could he? He just had to do something, confined as he was, anything would be better then nothing, just, how?

Banging his head against the gem, I'll-bet not hard enough to break it. The small deer mentally ran in circles trying to figure something out, anything, anything would work. Just as he was about to shatter into a sobbing heaving fit Nina stumbled over the edge of what he had been encircling. A well of power, so warm and soothing, quieting his quivering nerves. Filling him with the feel that Roanin could do anything as long as he still had breath in his lungs and a pulse in his body. Holding firm to this new found power he plunged deeper his conscience almost detaching from his own body. Alighting on others around him, there were just so many, he could feel them all, tiny little things that they were. The life they held within was just so beautiful he couldn't help bust gasp at their presence.

Their cries filled his breast, fluttering heart filling with their will to live he reached deep into himself finding that power and unleashed it; His own Rose Quartz Gem Heart once a dull light flared up bright, scattering warm pink shading all around the fawn within the chrysalis.

At the tug of Nina's magic the seeds all around them reverberated with life renewed, springing forth from their own shells their roots shot downwards. Seeking purchase within the soil their steams reached for the surface, wanting the warmth of the caves lights. Breaking free the plants unfurled in breath taking colors a small field of flowers bloomed all around the trio, their soft velvet like petals glistening with dew stood tall against their new home. Around the one fawn who was already outside a large rosebush burst up to encircle the small deer, its brier bound bows serving as a barricade between the unknown beast and Roanin's brother. All thorns growing with their sharp edges outwards as not to harm the small piebald deer the were to protect, yet for any other would serve as a deterrent as who would want to barge through a rosen brier bush with no reason?

With that the little fawn slumped against his chrysalis excused at the push of growing so many things at once. Blue Ice eyes fluttering he tried to hold on to conscience as the corners of his vision burred. {Please stay safe brother, nothing rash please!} Where Nina's only thoughts as exhaustion quickens his sink into darkness.

His gaze flickered to the side, head raising from its vigil against the stone, peering down at the newly hatched buck. It looked... strange. As if it had once been pure white, but had been stained. Perhaps it had fought the demons even in its infant state? The scars that mutilated the gelding's front half itched, and he snorted, ears flickering at the sight of the tiny thing scraping away at the ground. It was... speaking? Vocalizing something, in any case. Snorting, the stick-thin horse leaned down to snuffle at the tiny babe's snout, attempting to calm them, robbed of his own words by the dark.

Maybe they were asking for help? Protection? The nameless gelding huffed, hot breath ruffling Rio's pelt, moving to peer once again into the unhatched quartz chrysalis. In an instant, the ground burst open with life, and he stumbled backward, frail legs shivering, eyes wide as flowers of every shade and size bloomed from the dull earth of Orion. Stunned, rooted to the spot by confusion and amazement, the only thing that got him to move was the sudden crack! of twin barricades sprouting around both the glowing egg and the child.

Protect! Whinnying in distress, the gelding rose up on thin back legs, teetering backward, landing heavy and afraid. He tried to push past the rosebushes, get to the fragile angels inside, but the plants bit back, dug into thin skin and poked holes in thick scar tissue, riddled with ugly, stark veins. The tendrils of shadow that had covered him moved, tried to wriggle through the branches, but they faded before they could cover the children. Frustrated, the horse backed up, tiny rivulets of blood coloring his chest and legs, strangely distant gaze wavering.

Demons..?

Rio watched the big creature lean down and snuffle his nose. theb ig gembound huffed his hot breath making Little Ri's pelt ruffle. Ri didnt mind it but he still didnt know what this creature was or who he was. He didnt even know if the big was friendly or not. If he was friendly what would he do to them after words? Would he kill the young babes or would he leaving them with a bunch of bad gembounds? Rio didnt want that. He was a baby and needed to live. He still had things to do before dying. As he stretched his neck up to sniff the creature something grew out of the ground and wrapped a circle around him. The fawn walked around in a circle trying to figure out what it was and where it came from. Was someone trying to kill the boy or the brothers? If so why and where were they? Rio tried to figure away out but there wasnt away out. He started crying out to the big creature scared.

Ears pinned back, fragile body shaking with stress, the nameless gelding's gaze flickered from the thorns to the unharmed child. Demons - demons must have made the thorns, to try and hurt the angels. He huffed, reared back to try and destroy the plants once more, but they only bit into his hide, and in an instant, the shadows rushed to his aid. Darkness like a blank night sky covered white hair until his entire figure was an off-gray, eyes dimmed, gemstone leaking thick black fluid from its changed core. As he landed hard back on the ground, jagged spikes edged from his forehead, slowly forming long, curling horns - a mimic of outward defense, a shroud for his weakness. Strong. He needed to be strong for the angels.

He ducked down to gently lip at the successfully hatched angel's pelt, soothing it with soft huffs and nudges, pitch-black tendrils petting soft fur. Safe. Even if the other appeared to be... unlucky. Eyes narrowed as they moved to pin on the half-hidden chrysalis, blood and scratches down his front hidden by the soothing blanket of darkness. Again. He would have to try again... until the angel was free.
