She had been partially aware for a while now. Trapped, but calm. The edges of her containtment pressed against her curled-up form, offering a strange sense of support and comfort. It was safe in here. Her young mind knew that concept already -- safe. Unfortunately, her young mind, somehow, also knew it was time to go. The comfort could not last forever, and as time went on the pressure of the crysalis around her grew stronger, almost painful. She was too big, and she needed to break out. Dark eyes opened, suddenly, awakening fully in a second. Her body inhaled on it's own, but her lungs filled with a fluid that caused her mind to race. All of a sudden, her safe haven wasn't so safe anymore as her body heaved and yearned for the concept of air. Limbs began to thrash and move, resisted by the edges of her prison at first. But then, she heard the sound of cracking, pushing her to only move with more ambition. First -- A crack big enough for the fluid to begin leaking, allowing some air to come through. She gasped and coughed, continuing to move even though she was already growing exhausted. The sound continued, and finally, in one last moment, she was released into the world, landing on the hard ground with a heavy flop, small form coughing up the rest of the fluid and gasping for the air. |
